Auberge De Herborist — Restaurant in Bruges

My husband and I had a beautiful dinner at this restaurant. I picked it when still in New Zealand three months before arriving in Belgium. It is a wonderful dining experience and the presentation of the food was perfect. The food tastes even better than it looks and you can tell that everyone who works here is very passionate about their work. Every detail was exact from the way the reception area looked to the dining tables. Beautiful touches everywhere. One small detail however made me a little disappointed as we noticed that the chef/owner greeted each table and spoke to them about part of the menu and/or a wine they had chosen. I knew this person was the owner as his name was printed on his uniform and I recognised his face from the website. I loved this restaurant which we went to with another couple for my girlfriend's birrhday. It's a great place outside of the city where we had pre dinner drinks outside in the beautiful green setting before going inside for our food. The chef / owner came and took our order and explained all the dishes, which was a special touch. We went for the three course option with wine pairing and paid the supplement to have cheese for dessert and we enjoyed every course and the wine.... The portions were plentyfull and so tasty and well presented. The decor inside was also really nice... A mix between modern and old barn, and as a bonus we were lucky with the night we chose to visit since it was such a beautiful evening that most people sat outside and so we had a whole room to ourself. And the service from the staff in this room, was excellent. All in all I highly recommended this restaurant for a special occasion or even just a lovely...

Outstanding evening! The food was divine for both my partner and I. He eats everything, I am a vegetarian and usually get snobbed in haute gastronomie restaurants. But the team of De Herborist welcomed me with some of the best creations I've tasted in my life, and was extremely flexible and able to serve us different menus. The service was impeccable as well.
