Went here with my sister for lunch, and I was in the mood for the rib- eye. Looked very nice when I got it, but then I cut the first piece from it and my heart sank... I ordered saignant. You know, tender, beautiful juicy red (no, not "bleu")? What I got was more like the sole of my boot. Completely dry, tough and tasteless. Just look at the picture, and this was the center of the steak! I didn't even want to post a picture of the outer side because I think there's laws against that.
I mentioned this to the friendly waitress when she got to our table, and she said: "oh you should have ordered bleu then." Excuse me?? What kind of a reply is that?? I KNOW what I ordered, and it is most definitely NOT what I got! I don't want raw meat, but what I got was way worse. I am not the kind of person who wants to cause a fuss in a restaurant, but the only reason I ate most of it was because I was super hungry. The fries and the bearnaise were excellent, so I just drowned the dry steak in the sauce, thinking back fondly of other restaurants were the steak was actually juicy. I should have made them take it back, because this was a disgrace.
My sister's summer salad was nice, she said, and I was glad for her. She did agree that the waitress' remark was just not done. A customer with a totally valid complaint just gets shamed as if he doesn't know what he's talking about. We couldn't leave yet, as she had a lunch and still had an ice cream coming, but I just wanted to get out of there. Normally, I would have taken a second drink, a dessert myself and a whisky to finish it off, but not now. We are agreed: never coming back here. Shame, because the place...
Read moreAfter a lovely tour of the castle we didn’t want to leave the grounds. Decided to round the corner to this lovely establishment. The weather agreed with us so we ate outside. The food (we just had some shareable appetizers) was delish. The fried oyster mushrooms were my favorite and I don’t know why more places don’t do this. I loved it! I highly recommend this restaurant and the staff were...
Read moreAwesome surprise. We went to eat after a walk on the castle grounds and surroundings, and this place was an eye opener.
The owners clearly try to give local products the spotlight, resulting in an extremely enjoyable lunch. We surely might come back for more. The food is more of belgian cuisine, although they do have some vegetarian choices.
They deserve the...
