Hong Thong Thai Restaurant & Take Away — Restaurant in Ghent

Wow ! was the first word came off my mouth as soon as I walked into the restaurant. The decor was absolutely stunning, warm and welcoming all plants and flowers inside are real and fresh. There are lot of displays around the restaurant that make you feel like you are in Thailand, for me as Thai who live in Sydney Australia and have been eating Thai restaurants around the word, I must say that this is one of the top quality Thai restaurants oversea I have ever been.

My partner and l sat in the middle of the restaurant the seats were very comfortable and cushions supporting your back are great idea. At the table, we could admired the lovely display of thier bottles collection, the bar and watching bartender making drinks are entertaining which we enjoyed. We made the reservation and we spotted a lovely card with our names on it, another nice touch.

Cocktails/Wine lists are awesome, my partners tried 2 difference cocktails because of thier interesting names such Tsunami and Saowarot, both were delicious. We were offered the complimentary entree of Laab springroll which was stunning, so fresh and delicious. I have never seen this dish before and felt in love with it. Then, we ordered 3 starters, chicken satay, dim sim and chicken spring rolls, they were gone in a second, they were so fresh and tasty.

Our main course we selected Chicken Basil which you can asked how spicy your preferred, Panang Beef (red curry) and Stir fried Prawn with vegetable and ginger which earned my favorite dish of tonight because so fresh, fragrant and stunning. Before our main course dishes were served, staff set up the plate warmer which was stands and tea candles on the bottom which helped, our food served in hot plates and stay warm until the end. What a special thoughts! Love the details going around the restaurant so perfectionist.

The staffs were lovely and wonderful, we were talking and planing the rest of our holiday and I didn’t get the pressure from staffs that they tried to get rid of us. We also noticed that there are many takeaway during that night, the restaurant have special inside waiting area for people who was waiting for thier takeaway to be ready. The prices were reasonable comparing to the dinner we have been eating in Europe, the restaurant have the quality that matched the values. Due to an incident I could not attend my first reservation nor call to inform the restaurant that I could not be there. The next day, I tried to reserve again and the restaurant called me. As I tried to explain what happened, the guy interrupted me and was rude, so I cancelled the reservation. Not good service on the phone. Cannot judge the rest.

[Update] after posting my opinion about the call experience, the restaurant keeps calling me, and now they are threatening lawyer action. See picture.
