Oud Gemeentehuis — Restaurant in Jabbeke

The settings are very nice and, in summer, there’s a fantastic playground for the kids. However, the food is average and the service not up to where it should be. Although the restaurant was not crowed at all, we waited more than an hour to get our main courses (that had been forgotten according to the waiter). And when they came in, the meat was overcooked (ordered rare « bleu » and came in way too cooked). As we sent the meat back to the kitchen, the chef came to our table with the same plate and very aggressively told us that it was « bleu » and we had to eat it that way!!! We booked into this restaurant for a bite to eat on the way home from our holiday to Holland. The restaurant atmosphere was fantastic and the service was great. It did take about 45 minutes for the food to arrive but they were super busy which says something about how good the place was. The size of the food portions were very big and our waiter even mentioned to us about just getting 1 adult portion for our 2 year to share. The waiter was really friendly and attentive. Het was mijn eerste keer in dit restaurant. De scampis look als voorgerecht waren super lekker. Mijn hoofdgerecht sliptongetjes waren ook heel lekker. Behalve te droog daar er niks van botersaus bij was. Frietjes waren niks speciaal. Bij de tongsjes misschien wat verse tartaar erbij in de plaats van mayonaise uit een pot of fles. Mijn pa heeft als hoofdgerecht paling gebakken in de room. Paling ging niet goed vd graat en roomsaus was geen room en het zoutvat was erin gevallen. Omdat het restaurant vol zat wilde mijn pa niet dat ik er iets van ging zeggen. De paling heeft hij tegen zijn goesting op gegeten en de saus laten staan. Mijn pa is een saus eter. Toen de dame kwam afruimen vroeg ze of het lekker was, waarop ik haar dan heb gezegd dat de saus niet eetbaar was. Ze is gewoon weg gegaan en ons niks gezegd. We hebben nog koffie besteld en de rekening gekregen. Geen gesprek, geen excuses, geen compensatie al was het maar die tas koffie. Helemaal niks. Heel jammer want het mijne was wel lekker.
