Vesuvio D’oro — Restaurant in Lanaken

Cozy restaurant with nice decor and open kitchen, but the service was substandard. We were probably unlucky and there were not enough staff that day. But even then I think that friendliness and a smile should not be missing.

For a typical Italian restaurant, I also expect there to be olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table to go with the bread. We received a small dash of olive oil, we had to ask for balsamic vinegar as well as salt and pepper.

The antipasti starter was great, ordered 2 extra bruschette so it was enough for 4 persons.

The food was tasty but nothing remarkable. The prawns were cooked just too far, but the calamari was very tasty. A simple pasta aglio olio as a side dish was tasty.

In itself this could be highly recommended, but they have made too many little mistakes. We'll give it another chance this summer and then I hope to be able to give this review a big 5 stars because the...

Amazing authentic Italian food. Best Pizza I have had in a very long time. We have recently been to Tuscany and didn't have Pizza that good!!! The Restaurant has just recently opened and it is definitely worth a visit. Place is very cozy and decorated nicely. Obviously everything is brand new and thought of. Open kitchen so you can watch your food being prepared. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Portions are very generous and actually too large, we took half of hour Pizzas home as we hab starters, too. Pizzas were just amazing, dough was very fluffy and light. Gnocchi were cooked to perfection. Brochetas and Calamari we had for starters were extremely well prepared, too. Amazing discovery in Lanaken, cosy, warm and clean open space place to dine in. Top quality and great professional staff. Thanks to Salvatore and Stefano (the owner) to treat us like a family and let us enjoy their delicious food. Nice beer (cuore di Napoli) e their pizza is fantastic.
