De eerste maal dat ik een bezoekje bracht aan Nieuw Stene en ben positief verrast. In de eenvoudige maar gezellig ingerichte taverne kon ik kiezen uit kleine hapjes tot verzorgde hoofdschotels Ik besloot mij aan een, zoals het seizoen past, wildmenu te wagen. Tijdens het eten kon men de liefde van de kok, in het bereiden van de spijzen, proeven. Afsluiten deed ik met een koffie die geserveerd werd met een stukje brood pudding en een bekertje chocolade mousse. Ook bij de afrekening was ik, en weer in positieve zin, verrast. Ik kan enkel maar zeggen, super over de gehele lijn en dat maakte dat ik Nieuw Stene met een gevoel van, hier kom ik zeker nog...

Tijdens onze jaarlijkse wandeling van Operatie Red Beam Kolwezi mars in Oostende kwamen we na een 12 tal km dit pittoreske eethuis tegen waar we op t zonovergoten terras een heerlijke koffie dronken met een glaasje advocaat en een stukje verse broodpudding! Top! Jonge mensen met hart en ziel aan t werk! Daarna een verse spaghetti met rucola die me heerlijk smaakte! Restaurant binnen zat meer dan vol! Hier komen we zeker nog terug!
