La Table de Maxime — Restaurant in Paliseul

We were there for a dinner night and stayed at the table de maxime ‘s chambre d’hôtes, we booked a package for the weekend. We arrived to our room which was just on top of the restaurant. The room was very dusty and there was no water in the room. We went to ask for water and they gave us a 1L bottle without saying anything. The dinner and food was nice but the service was terrible, for a 2 Michelin star restaurant, it is unthinkable that you keep raising your hand to indicate you need more water and more bread. For each service, we were the last ones to be served even though we were the first to arrive. Servers were extremely slow and they did not even realize when we needed something we have been at other 2 Michelin star restaurants and the servers are so attentive, you get water or bread and butter before you even finish it. Regarding our stay, our room was extremely hot and we were barely able to sleep even though we opened the window at night. Next day when we got the bill, we realized we were charged €10 for the water and they did not want to do anything for us regarding our room. You do not pass by la Table de maxime by chance ; this is the kind of place you need to deserve. 20-30 minutes off the E411 highway, in Belgian ardennes, Maxime has brought the small village to the forefront of Belgian cuisine. It starts with a friendly welcome ; we opted to take one of the few rooms available in the restaurant and for 125 € it has all what you need ; ours was quite spacy ; bed exccellent. Now come to what happens at the ground floor. We took the 5-course menu with 3 starters one more surprising and tasty than the other (cod, trout and rabbit) than tender veal and finally local starwberries in a delicious dessert preparation. Wine choice is good and prices are reasonable. Service is what I consider the right mix between class and kindness from a troup of young staff.
