First impression: Romantic, cozy, attractive. Nice design and decoration, mainly wood (even the toilet looked cute).
The Chef is very friendly and welcoming. The food was not bad and some dishes were really good.
Unfortunately, only 2 waitresses: A young girl and an old bleached lady in black outfit, probably the mother of the chef, or the grandmother of the young waitress. The young waitress worked very hard, but her attention was mainly focussed on the local guests and regulars.
The older woman paid no attention to us at all from the moment we came in, and she never put a smile to her face, in fact she just ignored us. Later my wife told me she felt exactly the same.
When I asked for the bill, I told my wife in advance that I guessed that it would probably take at least 25 minutes before everything was finalized. That was a cautious estimate. I usually give 15 to 20% tip, I had agreed with my wife to give 8-10% this time.
When I finally got the bill I walked down to the bar to pay with my bank card. The old waitress sat 1 meter away from me talking to regulars and saw me right away. I showed her the bill. She she looked me right in the face but ignored me. They talked at least 10 minutes, only after the bell for service had rang 3 times she left to serve some plates. Hurrying past me she said: âTwo minutesâ and left. When she came back I wanted to pay with my bank card, she snappy told me they did not accept those. When I searched in my bag, she was instantly irritated. When I quickly searched for my PIN code in my PDA, she walked away without saying anything. After a while she came back but ignored me, I drew her attention to ask for permission to use my credit card again. She petulantly said in French something like: âRight, you should not take so long to enter your PIN codeâ. Like I was a criminal.
Finally I paid, and did not tip a single dime. I canât remember ever having given less than 5% tip, let alone nothing. The old woman, I believe should retire or find a job that doesnât need hospitality and dealing with human beings.
After my review June 22, on November 13 I received the following email (reply) from the restaurant:

About the 45 minutes: My wife forgot her camera, I asked permission to drive back to pick it up, they said: no problem at all!

Quelle dĂ©couverte ! Nous avons Ă©tĂ© plongĂ©s dans une ambiance mĂ©diĂ©vale, avec ses belles voĂ»tes, ses poutres apparentes et une cheminĂ©e chaleureuse. Ce nâest pas un hasard : le bĂątiment servait autrefois de haute cour de justice et de prison, et il est lâun des rares Ă ĂȘtre restĂ© debout aprĂšs les bombardements pendant la guerre. Quelle histoire fascinante !
JĂŒrgen et VĂ©ronique ont restaurĂ© ce lieu avec un profond respect pour son Ăąme et lâont transformĂ© en un bijou gastronomique. Tout est soignĂ© dans les moindres dĂ©tails, avec des saveurs raffinĂ©es qui Ă©veillent les sens. Le fait de pouvoir choisir son vin directement dans la magnifique cave voĂ»tĂ©e ajoute une touche vraiment unique.

Originaires du village nĂ©erlandais de Harskamp (prĂšs dâArnhem, en Gueldre), les dâHarscamp sâinstallent dans la rĂ©gion de Namur au XVIIe siĂšcle. Leur ascension commence avec Hendrik dâHarscamp, nommĂ© 'grand munitionnaire' des troupes espagnoles durant la guerre de Trente Ans. GrĂące Ă leur savoir-faire dans la fonte de canons, la famille devient lâune des plus riches de la rĂ©gion.
CharlesâFrançois de Paule dâHarscamp (1669â1736) fut bourgmestre de Namur puis lieutenant-gouverneur. Son fils, FrançoisâPontian dâHarscamp, Ă©pousa en 1748 Isabelle Brunelle, une femme nĂ©e Ă Aix-la-Chapelle qui deviendra lâune des plus grandes bienfaitrices de son Ă©poque. Ensemble, ils possĂ©daient des terres jusquâen Hongrie et Pologne.
Isabelle Brunelle, devenue comtesse dâHarscamp đ€, se dĂ©voua Ă des Ćuvres philanthropiques : elle fonda plusieurs institutions sociales Ă Aix-la-Chapelle ainsi que lâHospice dâHarscamp Ă Namur (1812), destinĂ© aux personnes ĂągĂ©es de familles autrefois aisĂ©es. GrĂące Ă sa gestion avisĂ©e, cet hospice conserva pendant des siĂšcles une solide rĂ©serve financiĂšre.
Elle sâĂ©teignit le 8 mai 1805 Ă Namur et repose Ă Noville-les-Bois aux cĂŽtĂ©s de son Ă©poux.
Ce bĂątiment, ancien tribunal et prison du XVIIIe siĂšcle, est aujourdâhui lâun des rares Ă avoir survĂ©cu aux guerres. Il a Ă©tĂ© magnifiquement restaurĂ©, et chaque pierre y Ă©voque le passĂ© prestigieux de cette famille noble. Une expĂ©rience culinaire et patrimoniale...
