We were so fortunate to find this beautiful place after a hike around Fort Eben Emael. It is situated on the iconic Albert Canal with many beautiful views of the river and the numerous barges that ply the canal. Along with the views came some of the most delicious food we’ve experienced in our travels.

My partner enjoyed the spaghetti carbonara while I had very tasty mushroom soup and meatballs in a thick gravy with coleslaw salad and fries. All of the food was memorable in taste and quality.

I want to thank the staff for their service and hospitality. We had taken a ride share to the Fort, but the same service would not come to the area leaving us sort of stranded for return to Maastricht. The manager was able to find us a ride with a very nice young man who moonlights as a taxi for much less than the ride share. Our waiter was also very nice and polite as we navigated through the menu and made our selections. What a lovely experience in general! Ppppffff Amai amai waar zal ik beginnen! Lopend vanaf Kanne doemt dit pareltje op aan het eind van de horizon. Gllimmend als een hondenkeutel in de maneschijn!

Men neme plaats op het schitterende terras met dito hekwerk en het adembenemende landschap, met links en rechts nog een echt dieselvrachtschip wat langsjakkert op zijn dooie gemakje.. Genieten with the capital G!

Wachten hoeft niet want onze persoonlijke ober staat, with a blink of an eye, naast de tafel om onze bestelling op te nemen. Terras, hekje, bootje, maatje.. Mis ik nog iets?! Nou, die stortbui die ervoor zorgde dat we naar binnen werden gejaagd i.i.g. niet! Maar ja, ook daar is door de uitbater aan gedacht :)

Wie denkt dat het binnen toch lang niet zo uitmuntend kan zijn als buiten heeft het goed mis! De plavuizen, het beuken decor en de vaste gasten maken het als thuiskomen.. Wie had het ook alweer over de boten, hekwerk en het uitzicht?

Heerlijk genoten van de frisse tapbiertjes en de wilde lokale verhalen, wat een goesting mien jong! Veel te vroeg zijn we hier weggegaan, maar zeker niet voor de laatste keer!
