For the Fiertel, a walk of 32 km around Ronse, last sunday (First sunday after Pentecost), more than 7000 people walked past this very popular bar, where the shrine stops, early in the morning. A medieval tradition that is still very popular among locals and walkers from all over Belgium.
The Belgian way of starting a pilgrimage of 32 km is also to empty with all of your boy-friends a bucket of beer. "What shall we do with the drunken sailors? Early in the morning..." And lots of local gin with roasted sausages will help the crowds to continue walking, although it is hot.
