This place is strongly upgraded from the past. A very agreeable atmosphere, natural light in a very cozy way and a very nice use of materials for the interior. The service was good, but not perfect and we had the impression that the waiter didn't understand what we needed. Also they were understaffed for the amount of clients present. One of the waiters was working hard, had an earpiece in, but had zero empathy with the clients. No smile, no time, just work. This gives a very unwelcome atmosphere. The food was good, we had a 2 person chateaubriand with a good taste and texture, however, the portion received wasn't enough for two persons, not even by far enough. So that is a pity otherwise I would have been able to give 5 stars for the food. Same thing for the cheese plate that I took as dessert, the taste was good, however, not enough, probably because the main dish wasn't sufficient either I still felt hungry afterwards. We stopped here on a whim as I've passed it many times. Dined with a friend for cocktails and snacks. We had the edamame, meat balls, beef tataki, homemade croquettes, and asparagus. The food was delicious. As it was the two of us, we ordered far too much food, but it was worth sampling a bit of everything. Thankfully, the portions are not huge and are just enough for two to taste. The service was a bit slow, but not her fault. She was the only one there and was doing what she could. Two servers in the afternoon would have helped. We were there for almost 2 hours and it was just her. The atmosphere is lovely. Heel gezellig ingericht met mooie kerstversiering. Bij mijn reservering had ik gemeld dat ik glutenvrij en lactosevrij dien te eten. Er werd al snel brood op de tafel gezet en nadien ook een dipsausje met dipkoekjes. Mijn vraag of er ook glutenvrij brood was, werd nogal kortaf met een 'neen' beantwoord. 😒 vaak, zéker wanneer ik het meld bij de reservering, kan er wel voor glutenvrij brood gezorgd worden. Bij mijn vraag over allergenen gaf de medewerkster me onmiddellijk de allergenenkaart, uitleg kon ze er amper bij geven. Ik vroeg ook of de kok een suggestie kon geven, waarop ze reageerde dat ik op die kaart alles kon vinden en dat iemand van de administratie die kaart gemaakt had en de kok daar niks over wist 🙃🥴😱 Ze had duidelijk geen kennis hierrond want zoiets zou men over een kok toch nóóit mógen dénken, laat staan het luidop tegen klanten vertellen. Wanneer ik haar dus vroeg wat zíj mij kon adviseren, van glutenvrije en lactosevrije gerechten, (want bijna in élk gerecht zijn gluten en/of lactose verwerkt) vond ze het misschien tóch een goed idee om de kok erbij te halen. Hij (duidelijk heel bekwaam en zeer goed op de hoogte van allergenen) vroeg me eerst waarvoor ik zin had en gaf onmiddellijk aan dat hij meerdere gerechten gerust kon aanpassen en/of de saus wilde aanpassen en zo kwamen we al zeer snel tot een goede keuze. Jammer dat de medewerkster zo slecht op de hoogte bleek van allergenen en niet echt gepast reageerde over de kok. Hopelijk heeft zij in de toekomst wat meer vertrouwen in de kok en zijn kennis over allergenen. In dit restaurant heeft men ook wel wat keuze in soorten van fruitthee.
