My husband and I are foodies, but we're not "fine dining foodies" and have only been to a few Michelin star restaurants in Europe. So while I'm not arrogant enough to pretend to know what the cream of the crop is when it comes to fine dining experiences, my experience at Aurum was one of the best I've had hands down. Every part of the service was perfectly choreographed like a well oiled machine, but still personable and personalized enough to feel like a really enjoyable experience. The highlight of my experience was having my very difficult-to-cater-to gluten intolerance accommodated for every single part of the 5 course meal. Even many upscale restaurants and hotels struggle with this, so the already won me over from the very start. But what really made this experience stand apart was the personable and very attentive team at Aurum. The Maître d' even gave us a very helpful overview of Belgian food culture after noticing that as Americans, we are not accustomed to longer meals (but are slowly adjusting) and made sure that we had a fantastic experience. Everyone that we encountered spoke at least English, Dutch, French, and were lovely guides for this experience. Most importantly, the food itself was spectacular. Overall? A...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of enjoying the Autumn menu with wine pairings and were thoroughly impressed. The food was excellent — from the creative amuse-bouches to the beautifully presented dishes. The wine pairings were very well chosen, and we especially appreciated the opportunity to try some fantastic Belgian wines and cheeses. The cheese selection was a highlight on its own!
The staff truly went above and beyond, offering attentive and knowledgeable service throughout the evening.
If I had to mention one small thing — while I do enjoy 80s music (and Michael Jackson!), it felt a bit out of place during an otherwise refined dining experience. That said, it didn’t take away from the quality of the evening.
Keep up the great work — the food, the service, and the warm atmosphere made for a lovely evening. I’ll...
Read moreA unique experience! We opted for the 5 courses Aurum Menu, which actually ended up including also 3 amouse bouches, bread & butter, a pre-dessert, and petit four. As we had communicated in advance that one of us had special dietary requirements, the staff was prepared and ready to propose - when necessary- wonderful substitutions (free of charge). Very convenient their "BOB adjusted" wine pairing option, that offers a smaller quantity per glass, to lower the alcohol through the meal without sacrificing the experience and variety. The place is very elegant and intimate (around 10 seats). The food was great, and the service impeccable. The staff was extremely nice, speaks flemish, english, and french, and explained in detail every dish. Special mention also for the wine pairings (and the sommelier!) which were...
