I am portuguese, and only recently I moved to Turnhout, and I had to leave a review here to anyone that is not sure if going to Q-taro is worth it.
It is! Honestly! In simple way, let me tell you that I tried a lot of sushi places in portugal, and none compare to this one! The food is delicious! And the food is very big! I felt like Remy in Ratatouille, seeing all the colours mixing in my mind and having such a fabulous experience! And each dish served with a specific sauce that always complimented it so well! The food was great!!!
As for the place itself, I found it very beautiful. The tables were very nicely arranged, and there were some banners with cats that made me smile 😋
The people were lovely too. Even if Belgium doesn't have english as a official language, everyone there tried to help me and talk to me in english, because I don't know Dutch yet.
The only thing that might come across as strange, for Portuguese people at least, is that everything is so calm and slow - and I mean this in a good way. I loved seeing the people working there taking their time and not running around, stressed. It made me feel like it might be a healthy place to work at, differently from many places I have been to in Portugal. I'm happy to contribute as I can in a place that respects and cares for their workers ^-^
The only negative point I see, is that the toilets are 1€ to use, but then again, I don't know the culture well enough to know if this is standard.
All in all, I would totally recommend trying it out. I'm sure you will fall in love and want to come back!
Thank you for receiving...
Read moreWent here twice now. Both of the times the service has been... lackluster at best. You'll be waiting for at least 45 minutes in between each round of food. The food is fine, most of the time (stay away from the tuna though. Questionable if it is even tuna). I told them that the tuna was questionable, it was dissolving in my mouth and tasted fishy. They talked back and told me that there are kinds of tuna that taste like that. I have had plenty of tuna in my lifetime but never had any like this.
I threw up about 15 minutes later.
They encourage people to write Google reviews, so this is my honest review. They have to improve the quality and speed of service for them to be taken seriously as a restaurant. It would also be helpful if they stop gaslighting customers and take complaints about their raw fish seriously.
All in all, slow service, not friendly, not great food. Don't...
Read moreThe waiting staff were friendly, but the quality of the food was quite poor. Since you get penalised for every item ordered that you don't finish (a fair approach to avoid waste in an all-you-can-eat setting, imo), I ended up ingesting some tuna sashimi that looked and tasted like it had just been defrosted, not smooth or fresh. We got a table at around 9 pm, and after our first round of orders (you can order up to five rounds) were told that we had to do our entire remaining order immediately, because the kitchen was closing (around 9:30). On the menu it clearly states that the kitchen closes at 22:30, so that wasn't a great...
