Bistro The Boathouse — Restaurant in Willebroek

It started it well: a very nice view and terrasse. Then… We ordered drinks, it took a while: OK. I ordered a Virgin Mojito at 6.5euros. For that price I expected some smashed green lemons, a decent amount of mint, sparkling water and cane sugar. What I got was one tiny slice of yellow lemon, one branch of mint and… a bottle of virgin mojito premade by Schweppes ? Kidding me ? 6.5 euros ? I can got a magnifient mocktail in a lot of places at this price ! After we ordered food and we were asked not to take more than 3 different dishes while we were 5 people, to make it easier for the cook. OK. We are nice people, we can help! We don’t think we are kings and queen. After, we wait for the food. We arrived at 7PM. 7.30PM. Nice view. 8PM, really nice view! Can we eat the view? ‘Cause we didn’t receive any compensation like bread, or snacks while there were plenty behind the counter. So no food, no explanations. Try to order more drinks but difficult to catch the waitress. One was super naughty and grumpy and the other was super nice, but… no food nor explanations. 8.30PM. Now, we aren’t hungry anymore to be honest, but just angry. The food is not there. 9PM, the table behind us received their food, they arrived at 6.30PM… They were nice and patient. When they received their food, apparently, it was over cooked so they refused the food and left. 9PM. At this point, we don’t want the food anymore, we just want to leave. You know, to pay something like more than 20 euros a dish, you want a good service. And to be treated like that, isn’t a polite way. So we paid the drinks and left. This place has potential for the view, but for the rest, I have doubts… I wouldn’t come back, but I hope that for the other customers who would like to enjoy the place, it...

Bistro the Boathouse is located at a lake lined with walking / running trails and full of rowers. There is a terrace with a view of the water and indoor seating as well, even a section cornered off for more formal dining. The menu is updated regularly with seasonal highlights and the fare is mostly classic, traditional Belgian. Service is friendly and efficient. Bistro the Boathouse is an excellent choice for any day of the week and in any weather. Go in for a coffee and stay for a snack or meal… or...

Ik geef niet vaak een beoordeling, het moet echt uitstekend zijn of desastreus alvorens ik de tijd hiervoor wil nemen. Het is de 3de keer dat ik er kom, en met veel plezier! Altijd bij een activiteit op de plas, en dus altijd veel volk … prachtige setting, mooi terras en complete brasseriekaart. Laatste keer ook lekker gegeten. Maar deze keer heb ik 45 min moeten wachten alvorens ik van mijn Latte kon genieten ( niet echt meer want mijn potje kookte over). Ik heb zelf 20 jaar in de Horeca gewerkt, en werd echt zenuwachtig van de organisatie. Hoewel het personeel (misschien een paar opdieners te weinig?) altijd vriendelijk is en altijd met een lach aan tafel komt, zat ik in een soort niemandsland en werd ik stelselmatig voorbijgelopen! Ik zat nochtans binnen op 5m van de bar. Ze werken duidelijk niet in zones en weten dus niet wie al dan niet werd bediend. Na 20 min heb ik echt moeten aandringen om mijn bestelling te nemen… maar dan werden nog tafels geserveerd die 20 tot 30 min na mij waren toegekomen, moedeloos werd ik ervan. Ben dan maar gaan vragen of mijn bestelling in behandeling was en dan heb ik nog 10min moeten wachten. Dus de communicatie tussen de zaal en de bar is ook niet optimaal en zeker niet in volgorde van de opname van de bestellingen.
