I was quite surprised when reading the other reviews for June's Kitchen. I am thrilled each of these people had a great experience. However, that was not the meal I had.
The restaurant is set up on the porch of June's home where she makes your meal right from her kitchen. This means there is not a lot of seating and I can't recommend it for large groups.
The dining area is in desperate need of a refresh. I like the "eating on grandma's porch" vibe but nothing is modern, including the menu. I doubt the menu has changed in the last decade. Maybe that's the type of food you are looking for.
My son and I waited a long time for our food. We were patient knowing it was being made a-la-minute. By the time the food came out, I was so ready for a great brunch. Unfortunately, my waffle was soggy & my bacon was floppy. I even got a bad batch of watermelon.
You could chalk it up to a very busy cook but we were the only people in the restaurant so quality control should not have been an issue. Maybe this is June's style of cooking, it's just not mine.
My son is not a picky eater so he said he enjoyed his food. I, on the other hand, am a total foodie. I have extremely high expectations when I go out to eat.
On a positive note, I had a lovely chat with one of June's children (or grand). That was the highlight of the meal.
After reading all the positive reviews I may give it another chance; although I don't have high hopes of that happening.
Trip Advisor has this listed as one of the best restaurants in Corozal but I am afraid I have to disagree. If June's Kitchen never gets a bad review nothing will change and visitors to the area will go based on the positive reviews.
I am sure she has a loyal following but if nothing changes she will be left serving the same clients and very few...
Read moreI've eaten in a few places here in Corozal, Belize and this is hands down, pencils off my paper, the best place. This hidden gem was found by my husband, and I tell you what it does not disappoint. The lime juice was to die for, the stewed chicken and rice and beans... Were so good! I had too much and so I took it back to the hotel we were staying at and the juice from the chicken got stirred into the rice and made it even better! I cannot say enough about the awesomeness of this place and also the staff. They were so friendly. The young girl that waited on us had such joy on her face. It sure did show in the food that was served to us. Definitely going back,...
Read moreBy far the best breakfast venue in Corozal! Depending on what fruit June can find, she adds it to your breakfast. I especially like the omelet with veggies, cheese and ham. Big meal for a reasonable price. I haven't been there for lunch, but the menu looks...
