We had a 4 hour layover at the Belize City Airport so decided to seek out something to decent to eat away from the airport. I happened upon this place and we took a taxi from the airport. $15USD $30Belize It is a boutique shrimp farm that serves its fresh shrimp. It has a restaurant overlooking the farm and the pool which is a day use pool for $5. The shrimp was delicious. The entire operation emphasizes eco-friendly solutions for water and power. Very impressive operation. The son-in-law is owner gave us an in depth tour and commentary. Above the restaurant is an incredible lookout tower that people with height fears should have no part of. We even got a ride back to the airport by the friendly manager/son-in-law! Overall, delightful and experience and I can’t wait to go back!

This is a sweet, family owned place. Only 15 minutes from the Belize Int'l airport. They have shrimp ponds that they raise shrimp in and they have a crocodile sanctuary on the property. They also offer jungle paintball which we did not try out. This is one of the best places around if you're a bird watcher. The restaurant is on the second floor (open air), but you can climb up to 5 stories and check out all the birds. There were many types to see! We had lunch here and the shrimp fritters were pretty delicious. The staff was sweet and very accommodating when a tropical storm blew through during our lunch.

On our first day in Belize, we were strongly recommended to come to this restaurant for the best shrimp in town. Captain Hooks did not disappoint. The manager Tim took the time to tell us the history of their farm, our server Loreni gave us the best service and remembered all of our names, and the food was top notch. We ordered the coconut shrimp, the conch/octopus ceviche, and landlubber burger. Very kid-friendly and laid back atmosphere.

During our delay from a canceled flight we went here based on positive reviews and it made all the difference in our 4 unexpected hours at the airport. The food was great (lots of healthy options) and the sauces for the shrimp are incredible - pina colada and wasabi were our top two choices. We told the chef when we needed to be back at the airport and he timed the food perfectly. A lovely breeze (no bugs!) and seeing a baby croc by the shrimp ponds (this is a working shrimp farm) were the icing on the cake. Of course we would have rather made our connection and gotten home that night but Capt Hook’s made the best of a bad situation. If you do have a long delay or layover, the $20 cab ride is worth it. Make sure you walk up the three flights of stairs to the observation deck -...

An extremely unique experience. Just when you feel like you've been driving down the road for too long and may have missed it, -keep driving. You will come to the shrimp distribution building on the right. Keep driving past the shrimp farming lakes until you get to a plane looking two story building. They have a huge variety of shrimp-based dishes that are as fresh as you can get. Literally. The view from the dining aria on the second floor is beautiful and fun as you watch the shrimp farm being quietly tended to all around you. Bring a swimsuit with you if you want to enjoy the swimming pool with the lighthouse themed water slide. A definite recommend...
