We’ve been loyal customers for more than 10 years, my entire family, our friends and a wider circle of our acquaintances. We loved the atmosphere, food was great and the owner along with his staff were always kind and helpful. Up until beginning of 2021. Today (9th May) we made a reservation for a birthday dinner that the waiter wanted to single-handedly cut short due to other iftar arrangements which were none of our concern (waitor’s name was Jasmin Krešto). After waiting 60 minutes for someone to serve us, Jasmin came and very rudely told us that we have to leave. After changing the waiter who was kind but clumsy we waited for another 60 minutes to get soup and another 45 minutes for the main course. What was even worse was that when I asked for the book of complaints they DECLINED to give it to me telling me my father who is friends with the owner should call the owner himself if we wanted to complain (the owner was on vacation at the time). Even though the food was amazing, grilled meat was above all standards - rude behaviour of waiters ruined our experience completely. So after being loyal customers and friends, this was not an isolated occurrence. Please avoid this place unless you want you day ruined by low quality of service and rudeness that was beyond and comprehence.

Also, (I wrote a review before) there were additional stuff that I forgot to write in the first review:

  1. Internet didn’t work for the entire time of our lunch.
  2. The dishes were served dirty so we had to ask for new clean ones.
  3. There were bees inside the restaurant and no one offered to handle this situation (my mom is allergic).
  4. Also let me highlight that the waiter JASMIN KREŠTO without consulting the owner wanted to change the time of our reservation.
  5. We overheard other guests complaining about the same issue.
  6. We ordered a dish that we didn’t get.
  7. And to end this review, in the begining when I wanted to sit, I wasn’t able because the tables were poorly organized, so when I asked Jasmin to move tables and provide me the space I need - Jasmin said I should sit...

We are four families from the USA and Canada who took a trip of a lifetime to visit our wives' beautiful homeland, Bosnia. We had an amazing time exploring multiple cities, starting in the south, then moving to the east, west, and finally spending our last week in Sarajevo. The people were amazing, and the culture was rich all the way through.

On our last day in Sarajevo, the ladies decided to make a reservation at a restaurant called Bašča kod Ene. When my wife called, the man on the phone was acting strangely, asking odd questions like where we were from. When my wife mentioned that we were from the USA and Canada, he got excited and said, "YES, we have a table for you!" Curious, my wife asked why he was asking so many questions, and he replied, “WE DON’T TAKE ARABS.” I have never heard such a discriminatory and disgusting statement before! I was shocked to my core. Everyone at the table was equally shocked. I was the only Arab Canadian at the table; the rest were Americans and Canadians. Our families do not see colour and do not tolerate discrimination or racism. Why would someone say such a horrible thing?

Everyone was heartbroken and ashamed of this Bosnian "bad apple." My friends supported me and didn’t want to go to the restaurant, but I insisted on going to find out more, try to meet the owner or manager, and educate them about discrimination and racism. I wanted to see this place for myself. However, I didn’t end up talking to the guy because he looked trashy and wasn’t worth my time.

The food was very average—nothing special. The highlight of the night was the price: an absolute rip-off. The same guy who took the reservation served us and overcharged each and every family at the table. We corrected him three times, yet he still managed to steal almost 100 Marks from each family.

As a local guide and Google review contributor, I’ll be reaching out to Google to investigate how a scammy, shady business like this, with many negative reviews and unsatisfied customers, has a high score of 4 out of 5.

Stay away—this place is not...

We came to this restaurant without any reservation spontaneously. We learned about this restaurant from a social media recommendation. Firstly the waiter made horrible jokes which were very unfunny and made us uncomfortable. He also told us that the kitchen staff was new with the job. We first ordered the traditional pita which is a thin dough filled with meat, spinach, cheese or potato. We arrived there at half past six. They were already out of most the fillings so early. There were only meat and spinach left. Then we ordered what was left and some other small side dishes. The pita first arrived after 45 minutes which is way too long. Then after another long time of waiting one of the side dishes arrived. It was horrible. It was a tuna salad with half a bottle of dressing. Absolutely disgusting and not edible. As for the soup there was nothing to complain. Then the fries, chicken and casserole arrived after another long period of time. Lastly after one whole hour of waiting the “freshly baked potatos” arrived. When they arrived the meat was already cold and hard. The waiter ordered the potatos when everything else was already there. You could definitely tell that the “freshly baked potatos” weren’t fresh at all. They were frozen potato wedges. Overall the experience was horrible and we will not be coming...

BASCA is a gem among Bosnian restaurants, offering delicious cuisine in a stunning garden setting. The food is exceptional, with authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. We tried 'misici', 'kolacici' and 'muckalica' from traditional Bosnian dishes and 'teleci biftek' made to perfection with 'krasmira' and garden salad. We shared all of them and really couldn't decide which meal was the winner of our dinner. The garden provides a serene and picturesque dining atmosphere, perfect for any occasion. The service is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff. I highly recommend BASCA for a delightful dining experience. As was famously said "we'll be back!" I highly recommend it!

Nekoliko mjeseci unatrag pratim detalje i recenzije o ovom restoranu.
