Toplik — Restaurant in Istočno Novo Sarajevo Municipality

Hello, I ate at your restaurant. We had a lovely meal, spent 160 KM and the kids loved it. But, our waiter did some very dishonest things.

Firstly, he seemed really annoyed that we wanted regular water and brougt out bottled water when we specifically asked for tap. The way he treated us about this was very bad.

Secondly, we specifically ordered a 40 km bottle of wine and we were brought a 60 km bottle of wine. I said the bottle and pointed 5 times so the waiter knew it and brought us the incorrect one and then picked up the menu so we could not check to see if it was correct and said he could not speak English so how could we communicate this to him.

And, then, we asked for a taxi and the taxi he ordered was completely dishonest and started with a 20 km fare. And, then took us completely around Sarajevo and not directly where we needed to go.

My friend worked in Sarajevo so we know our way around.

Unfortunately, our experience here was disappointing. I asked the waiter whether the dish I pointed to was fried calamari rings, and he said yes. What I received was something completely different. When I explained that this wasn’t what I expected, I was told I still had to pay and that it was basically my own fault. There was no attempt to acknowledge the misunderstanding or offer any kind of solution.

At the beginning of the meal, we were served bread with garlic oil without asking for it — and it later showed up on the bill. When I questioned this politely, the staff acted as if I was being unreasonable and made me feel quite unwelcome.

To make things worse, the food itself was underwhelming. One of the salads even had a small insect in it. I didn’t mention it at the time to avoid further unpleasantness, but it really added to the overall poor impression.

Well, where to begin. From the excellent location, only few minutes drive from the centre of Sarajevo. To clean and beautifully designed apartments. We stayed at Divlja Tresnja. Then we go to the restaurant who's ambient makes you just want to stay there and enjoy all they have to offer. Breakfast variety is really good. And if it is not on the menu, they will set you up with something, and you will love it 😉. And then we come to the best thing Toplik has....it's wonderful people. We had some car issues and they did everything to help us and get us back home.

So, if you are going to Sarajevo, and want to stay somewhere where all your wishes will be fulfilled and all your eventual problems will be taken care of, and most important of all where you will not feel like a guest, but as a part of the family.....look no further. This is the place.
