Barraca do Banga — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata de Natal

A little hard to find, but well worth the visit. Beautifully situated on the shore of a little river which runs into the ocean. It's great for taking a little swim in the river or in the ocean. When the tide rises, the ocean pushes up the mouth of the river flooding much of the beach. The local bar/restaurant has really delicious food for an overall low price (for Brazilian standards). The staff is very friendly and helpful but sometimes a little chaotic and forgetful (especially when it starts to get a little crowded). When we visited they ran out of supplies, so by mid-day some of the plates on the menu were not available anymore. But that's only logical if you consider the location and situation. It's the ultimate Brazil experience to have great food and beer, sitting on your chair when the tide comes in and you'll be with your feet in the water. Good place for children too, since you can easily track them wherever they go. The only downside is that the toilets/bathrooms are really dirty, but since that is found all across Brazil, you can't really complain about that. Great visit. We will definitely come...

Really nice place to relax on the beach. On weekend it is very busy during lunchtime. You need to have some patience with the service. Além do ambiente calmo e belíssimo, recomendo pelo caldo de sururu e principalmente pela casquinha de caranguejo muito farta, que vem acompanhada de tapioca umedecida em leite de coco, farofa e um delicioso vinagrete com maçã (combinação serviu de almoço para dois)

Há também sucos e caipiroskas de frutas da região como siriguela que não chegamos a provar.

Senti falta da tapioca com ginga mas nos informaram com simpatia que optaram não oferecê-la por não ser opção frequente da clientela.
