Went here on May 7, 2025. Atmosphere was great as there were not a lot of people around. Lady at the front when I walked in was welcoming and showed the restaurant around and allowed me to choose where I wanted to sit.
Each table/booth has a QR code that you scan to access the menu, although they do have physical ones (only because the waiter was trying to show that there are half order options for some of the main courses, and I was practicing my Portuguese with the waiter and I didn’t quite understand what he was exactly saying haha). Waiters were kind nonetheless
Food was delicious and definitely large especially for just a solo traveler (definitely come prepared to eat a lot! Although if you have a group of people, it’s great!) Some of the main courses have a half size option which is nice. You can even request to pack leftovers if you like to take some with you. I ordered the feijoada and the frango com farofa (big pot with chicken and cobbled corn covered in some savory sauce with lots of different sides). Good taste of mineiran cuisine. Do note that the food is a little pricey but I personally think you could get your money’s worth if you come with multiple people because the food portions are big!
Overall good experience. Probably a place worth trying once if you are a...
Read moreThis is a great find! This is not just a place to eat as it has cottages that one can stay at, a day use pool and recreation area, a small lake area where one can kayak or have a open air lunch at, and more. The food is self-service style and offers traditional Brazilian foods including a well stocked salad bar, stews, beans, rice, and much more plus a meat station as well. Seating is plentiful, they even have seating area that looks out over the vast property with horses and cows grazing in the fields plus a nice view of the lake as well. If anyone reading this review live anywhere near this establishment, I highly recommend stopping in and trying it out. For anyone visiting Brazil and heading to Belo Horizonte, via Rio, this food be a great place to stop from your travels to rest and enjoy a fantastic lunch. Finally, this establish has great service with friendly wait staff. The owner is on the premises and meanders to say hello to customers to check to see if they are connoting their lunch and to...
Read moreThis place used to be a favorite of ours— we used to come here every time we’d visit family in Pampulha. It is no longer worth the hassle. The food is not good enough to justify the size of the crowd, and their system for seating people is inadequate and in my opinion extremely dangerous: rather than turn you away when they know they’re too full to seat you, they will happily allow as many people as possible to queue up, forcing everyone into a space that is too small, where they wait standing up, drinking and talking loudly without masks on, and they cannot even give an estimate for how long you will have to wait in this unhealthy miasma of other people’s breath before you can sit. We waited for two hours before finally giving up in disgust. I feel terrible for the poor employees of this restaurant who must be exposed to this situation for hours every day.
There are so many terrific restaurants in Belo Horizonte; there’s no reason to ever bother with Xapuri. We will never...
