I stayed in this hotel for 3 different nights whilst travelling to and around different parts of Cameroon.||||Its quite a nice place to stay. It is convenient for the airport, though it is located in a really mixed part of town that you probably wouldn't really want to wander around at night (though perfectly safe within the hotel grounds). The hotel is at the end of an incredibly bumpy track which looks improbable.||||There is plenty of hot water and the air conditioning works well. All rooms have a TV but there is no fixed terminal for the internet-though there is WIFI if you have brought your own computer (only works in the lobby).||||The reception staff were smiley and as helpful as you could expect with the language barrier. ||||The bar and restaurant are located on decking overlooking the river. The food was really good, but its always worth asking whats fresh. The sea food should be fresh as the fish market is fairly close by.||||There is a swimming pool but I didn't use it so can't comment.||||Photography is sensitive in Doula and I managed to incur the wrath of several boatmen-despite the fact that they were several hundred metres away in the middle of the river channel and would be lost within the detail of any photograph. The nearby fishmarket would similarlymake for many fabulous photographs -if you were able to do so, but what what I experienced I wouldn't recommend this.||||Overall a good place to stay but you need to prearrange a pick up from the airport if coming...
Read moreLike other reviewers, we stayed here on three occasions in the course of touring around Cameroon; it is used by the local tour agency Cameroun Horizon. We were much less impressed than other reviewers seem to have been. The hotel is located quite close to the airport, but far outside the main part of Douala so is useless as a base for exploring the city. None of the Douala taxi drivers that anyone in our tour-group used had heard of the hotel, or even the district (the shanty-town of Youpwe) where it is located, which made getting there very problematic. The hotel felt desultory rather than tranquil, and seemed to be run primarily for the benefit of the owners, whose noisy children were allowed to run riot in the corridor. A main problem was the water supply, which was off more often than it was on, and on several occasions stopped suddenly in the middle of taking a shower; not sure how far this is a city-wide problem, but it certainly marred our experience of the hotel. The restaurant, while attractively located by the waterfront, was pricey and the set meal offered very limited options; we also came across one instance of deliberate...
Read moreNice place to relax before or after traveling. Friendly staff, everything works. The riverside location with breeze makes Douala climate easier to take. Rooms are clean, good mattress, warm shower with good water pressure. AC works- power backup by generator. Wifi in some areas (lobby worked for us). The food was very good at the restaurant. Continental breakfast was included, can be upgraded. There are clean bathrooms everywhere on the property. There are spaces for large groups- open terrace for up to 300. Conference room and indoor restaurant. Plus large restaurant terrace. ||A large play area for children and a pool. The pool was pleasant and realaxing t in the morning.||Quick connection to airport and pick-up/ drop-off is offered. No worries- you only occasionally hear sounds of airplanes. ||Unfortunately, the surrounding village doesn't have much to offer and the road is unpleasant to walk (or drive). ||I can very well imagine having a small conference or meeting at this facility- the quiet surrounding would support good focus and few...
