Update! Was in the area and wanted to see if the first time was a fluke and if I just had an under seasoned piece. Unfortunately that was not the case. This time around I went for brisket and the ribs. I was hoping it would be different. Boy was I wrong. Both the brisket and ribs were very under seasoned. I get it maybe it's just me. But when I go to a BBQ joint I am expecting the meat to stand on its own with our sauce. Let me tell you these need it so make sure to grab some or at least salt and pepper packets. I will say they were both cooked beautifully, but the seasoning. Please Smoke n Spudz up the seasoning, big hunks of meat need lots of it. As before the sides were the highlight I don't think they could be any better. But people aren't usually going for the sides. Aside from that the staff were pleasant and quick with putting together my box. You can see my original review below. It's really a solid 3 star. They may have a great in house sauce I am missing but like I said people are coming for the meat and I especially want to taste it and see what the flavor profile is. Unfortunately it's bland. First time visiting since the change of ownershipand name change from Smoke and Ash(was a regular at smoke and ash before). The good first, In my opinion the garlic fries and cheesy potatoes are better. There was a better flavor on the garlic fries and the cheesey potatoes were softer and had a richer(I assume more butter) flavor. The not so good. Having done a ton of briskets and pulled pork by request and for catering, I found that both the brisket and pork were cooked well, about the same as when it was the previous owners and smoker and ash. However the seasoning and flavor was not there. Thankfully the cutlery packs had salt and pepper I was able to use them to get to a level I at minimum expect from a BBQ place. I am hoping it was a one off and will be trying them again in the near future. I recognize that most places under season to play to a wider crowd but with such big cuts of meat this means that you end up with blander meat as a result, big cuts mean heavy on the rub. The sides were better than the meat and I don't go to BBQ places for the sides.

We used to come here all the time when it was Smoke and Ash. When Kelly sold, we had high hopes that the quality would be the same. Unfortunately; they have steadily gone downhill since. Against our better judgements, we have given it about three tries since the changeover and each time has been consistently bad. The meat has the essence of flavor without actually having flavour; the ribs still had the silverskin on it and the brisket was so fatty it was more fat than meat. Don't get me wrong - I love a good fatty brisket but this was too much. The beans were hard and gritty from the brown sugar not having enough time to cook down and the cheesy potatoes tasted like the smell of the potatoes that have been sitting in a cupboard for so long that they're starting to turn. The front counter staff are absolutely lovely and the atmosphere is what you would expect from a BBQ joint located in an industrial park but when I was waiting for my food and I overheard a conversation about how they had never had bad bbq before now from another table? I knew I wouldn't be back. Breaks my heart as we don't have many options in the Tri Region for good bbq.

I've heard about Smoke N Ash for a while now from friends and online reviews. After finally getting a chance to check it out, all I can say I'm crazy for not going sooner. It's your classic mom and pop hole in the wall setup. The food truly shines here. It's all hand made, never frozen and slow smoked heaven. The brisket was incredible. It was juicy and fell apart. The pork was mouth watering with ends so crispy. The hand made garlic fried were crazy good. The bbq beans were thick and tangy. I will be going back got the buffet this Saturday. Also I found out they will be doing dry aged beef, which I am absolutely excited for. I would love to see if they would be willing to smoke some boar. I would love to have some for a xmas or house party. 100% will be comming back often.

I’ve been to a lot of the “Texas’s BBQ” places around Edmonton and none of them come close to measuring up to Smoke & Ash.

Recommended by a high school teacher, his impassioned advice made it impossible to resist. From the very first visit, we were hooked. Located in a nondescript building within the Acheson industrial Park, we were uncertain we were in the right place. A small space with a casual atmosphere, we were welcomed by the very best food service staff and led through their delicious menu. Seriously, you will never feel more welcome anywhere! The food, especially the brisket, is a true treat for your tastebuds! The only problem you will have is choosing what to eat! The prices are also a treat. Believe me, you will more than get your money’s worth and never regret your purchase.

We have been back many times and treated family members as well. The entire experience will put a smile on your face. Absolutely. An Alberta company that has proven that sometimes GREAT things really do come in small packages( or businesses). Give them a try; you will wonder why you...
