On the 11th of July, 2021 after making a reservation, secured by a credit card, a first experience for me, we were told that there was a set menu with two options, both 5 course meals available. We were not informed of the takeout menu. The only other thing we were asked is if there were any food allergies and if we were to cancel, to give as much notice as possible. When we arrived at our reservation, while waiting to be seated, we discovered the take out menu and were ushered into our table. Upon reading the set menu options they were not what I and our guests were expecting, it was what I would compare to other very high end resturants I have experienced in the past. Based on the fact that our company and ourselves desired really only fish and chips style options, I asked our server ( neither of the owners) if we might be able to order from the take out menu and be seated outside. I was promptly and in my opinion defensively told that if I wished to do that I would have to pay 50 dollars + tax per reservation to do that. To top off that striking comment I was told plainly that this was explained to me over the phone. It was not explained over the phone and frankly made me look like a fool in front of our friends. We ate our dinner as we were told and I paid the bill. Upon selecting the most modest yet repectful tip amount based on the encounter I had just experienced, it equated to a 47.18 cent tip. Bringing my bill to over 312 dollars for 4 people. I was blown away by the bill itself only to leave the establishment feeling as if I had now been kicked twice in the gut in a 2 hr span. I will never return to this establishment and I would caution anyone deciding to dine at the Caraway...

On recommendation from Gemini AI, my wife and I stopped in for dinner on our drive from Parrsboro to Moncton. Our meal was SPECTACULAR! Each and every course was simply beyond good. The pre-dinner snacks included baba ganoush served with freshly sliced cucumber, falafels with a variety of dipping sauces, add to that a perfect little biscuit served with freshly whipped butter. The beet, apple, wild caraway and sour cream borscht was absolutely delicious. Same for the halibut croquettes and the dipping sauces were amazing... full of flavor. We both had the scallops, parisien nocchi, peas and pancetta which continued to thrill our taste buds. The scallops were plentiful, fresh and juicy and cooked to perfection. The borage of wild chammomile on shaved pineapple ice was a perfect pre-dessert palate cleanser.

For the dessert grand finale, we opted for the moist Almond Cake topped with a layer of red currant with a side of raspberry ripple ice cream...fresh and delicious! The drive to Advocate Harbour is along a winding scenic road and I would recommend keeping an eye out for potholes.

We have already reserved a table for 6 to share the experience with our foodie friends. My only regret is not taking more photos of all the dishes... you'll have to experience them...

We had come to WC many times in the past before they morphed to a fixed supper menu. There food was always stellar so we were anticipating something special (at 70$/person + drinks + tax+tip). Sadly the experience was hit and miss :-( We chose to have everything on the menu (there are 2 options for each course) and exactly half the items were misses. For the apps, the tortelini was awesome - great flavors, nice presentation - but the alternate app - miso soup with honey chicken wings - couldn't finish it. The miso was very sweet and had an unpleasant smoky taste; matched with sweet wings that were unremarkable, the combo was really not up to par. Next came the mains. The flounder over wild greens was excellent but the paella was just meh (small portion, rice clumpy, not all that flavorful) ... Lastly deserts - the ice cream and fresh berries was great but the pavlova was a fail (the meringue was not properly cooked and turned into a kind of gummy mass in your mouth). Service was great but the food was just not up to par (given the 200$+ price). This is the 1st time we are not left wanting more. Maybe was just an off night in...

I’m just reviewing the restaurant and our experience was incredible. Because we learned about this gem the day before, I made an email reservation and the only early spot available was on the ‘porch’ which was a lovely private spot. Only downside was the chairs were a little low for the table surface, but that wasn’t a distraction for the great food and service. Everything was fresh and tasty and the serving sizes were perfect. I’ve attached a copy of the menu and photos because my descriptions wouldn’t do justice to one of the best restaurants in Nova Scotia. You’re given two choice for each course. We told the house advice and split both courses between us, although we both got the seared scallops in a jalapeño creama. Incredible! The restaurant was recommended by the owner of the Old Shipyard Beach and Campground and we’re so happy we took her recommendation. Don’t miss this tremendous gem near the Advance Harbor. Worth the drive from wherever you are. We came from North Carolina US.

Tonight we experienced both the great accommodations and fantastic restaurant at Wild Caraway. The rooms are a comfortable array of colour, comfort and smart little touches, with a great view of The Bay. The bed is comfy and there is a cool lounge at the top to listen to an eclectic mix of vinyl and have a cup of coffee or tea. The real star of the place is the set menu dinner. The flavours of the dishes blend together perfectly. Flavours came from sauces you didn’t know would elevate a dish. The escabece was a taste experience unto its own. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive. A five plus course dinner worth every penny. Two of the dishes were the best flavours I have had in a long time. I wiped the dishes clean with my finger. (Sorry, if that offended anyone watching me). I hope they have some leftovers for breakfast.
