I like to think I know a bit about bbq. I smoke a ton of meat including brisket, ribs, pulled pork and on a variety of smokers.
I must say that this experience was incredibly disappointing, almost disrespectful to the animals themselves.
Sure the ribs were sort of falling off the bone but boy they were as dry as desert. The flavour? What flavour? I needed a ton of bbq sauce just to be able to swallow the damn thing. Where’s the smoke? It’s like a smoke ring doesn’t exist here.
The brisket- absolutely flavourless. To be fair the smoke ring was there but tiny. The brisket absolutely failed the finger test . To put it this way, the brisket thought it was 2012 and was following the planking trend on my finger. This piece of rock was so tough and hard that my mom could use it to hit me if I failed my math test.
The chicken had a better flavour but my god it was like chewing on bark. Have you heard of a thermometer? What a waste of a chicken
Cornbread was so incredibly tough that it could be classified as a weapon. It felt like it was left out for more than 3 days. The Mac n cheese also had no flavour and was served cold.
The only good was the baked beans which I don’t think is possible to ruin. But I wouldn’t put it past this business to ruin it. Moreover, the sausage was passable . I mean it was the only thing with fat in it, which provided the flavour.
The restaurant is nice along with its patio; however, no dogs allowed in the patio is a bad decision. The government of Alberta food reg (as of may 25,2022) provides operators the option to have pets in their patio. It is very disappointing to see so many patrons and their pets being rejected. Additionally, we saw many dogs and their owners waiting in their cars. The wait time could’ve killed them in this heat
Ps - the Big Scoops ice cream is not any better. I never seen an employee struggle so hard to scoop an ice cream in my life. I could smell and taste the...
Read moreThe atmosphere is really amazing. Kitchen: ribs was really good, chicken wings was with third phalanx, which looks disgusting, and dry were really bad. Pulled pork was dry and way too sweet, sausages was the same and the are really loose, their carrot color makes them look not natural (I was working at meat processing plant sales department for 10 years). Cocktails was really nice respect to barmen. Serving: first waiter said to us that they have kids menu (they do not have). Is it a restaurant or dining room (you should take plates and forks by your own, sauce the same). Server despite the fact that we were here for the first time and we want to try as much of the cuisine as possible and immerse ourselves in atmosphere of the place. Chicken wings, that we mentioned are for the child and should be no spicy was with cracked pepper, and as result our daughter stay hungry(thanks ice cream was good). The girl who was offering us semi-finished products was doing her job really good. Serving: At the end, we asked for takeout boxes for the food we didn’t finish. I asked twice, but the waitress only brought paper and said that the boxes cost extra. I would have gladly paid for the boxes, which I actually needed, but apparently the waitress thought she knew my financial situation better, or perhaps she just wanted to save me my money — which upset us. In the end, another waiter brought the bill, and yet a different guy came to handle the payment. We were highly recommended this place for its food and atmosphere, but honestly, we left very disappointed. Please work on improving the FOH. This is your revenue. The servers should be selling both the food and...
Read moreWe got seated... never been there, so we had no idea how their system work.. We ordered appetizers, and they gave us a pager. l. We saw other people getting up, so we learned we had to get up and get our own food. Corn bread was good but needed butter. Burned ends were good, but I wish they were sauced in the bbq sauce put back in the smoker then served. Ceaser salad was good. Hog Spuds were good, but they needed green onion, and sour cream was so small that they should be served on the side (separately) as sour cream was work directly to the potatoes. Texas Pig Shots Shotgun shell of Bacon Loaded with our homemade sausage and filled with our spicy Texas Cream Cheese Dip & and jalapenos! I wish I had taken a pic of this item... this is not what we got.. we got sausage wrapped with bacon and then drop of cream cheese on top and topped with jalapeno.. There is no cream cheese inside this dish at all. It was very dry. Needed a lot of bbq sauce on this.. Prices were very reasonable, but I was shocked to see they charged $6 for a bottle of Coke.. I wish they would have said something. They have Coke products as I ordered ice tea. My daughter ordered Coke, and I was a little shocked and annoyed that they brought her a bottle of Coke for $6.. Service was okay. We also ordered takeout for dinner as we are out of town.. I will do a separate review on that. The restaurant was huge. Awesome decorations and great atmosphere. Buzy from Friday at 2 pm.. oh, if anyone cares when I was checking out bad and good reviews, it looks like management of this place doesn't care to respond...
