Our previous experiences were good here. But our last visit was not. Ordered the Reuben. Showed up burnt on both sides. Like black. Looked burnt, smelled burnt and tasted burnt. Not sure how the kitchen allowed it to come out that way. Not sure how the sever didn’t notice. Server did not come by again to ask how it was. I waited a while but they were distracted by other tables for over 10 minutes. So I ate what I could because I was hungry. Fries were great. I ate those first. The unburnt portions of the Reuben were very good. Giving credit where credit is due. But I had to tear off unburnt bread and pull the meat out of the sandwich to avoid the awful burnt bits. When I was done, I put my plate with all the burnt pieces to the side. When the server eventually noticed, they asked if I didn’t enjoy eating crusts. I said no, I don’t like burnt crusts. They said they were going to see if it could be discounted. When the bill arrived, it was discounted by 10%. How laughable and insulting. The kitchen and server allowed very burnt food be served and 10% is all that could be offered by management? I would have expected at least 50%, as a token for their clear oversight and should-be embarrassment of allowing this to happen. To be clear, I am not a burnt food snob. I enjoy eating extra crispy partially burnt edges of potatoes, fish, chicken and the like. But no one likes burnt toast. It’s awful.
I also gave 2 stars for atmosphere because they need to address the chair sliding noise. It’s loud and obnoxious and easily fixable. Buy some rubber slip over feet online and make it all go away.
p.s. It’s wildly unprofessional to scold bad reviews. Suck it up and take your licks where they’re deserved. Think about it what you’re saying too. You only want good reviews on Google and criticism has to be behind the curtain? That’s not right. Further, your actions and inaction should have consequences. Keep making improvements and sort out issues noted in bad reviews and you’ll be fine. Ignore them or scold them and you won’t stay in business....
Read moreWe visited on a Friday evening around 6 pm. It was reasonably busy but not jam packed.
The space is beautiful. Hard to imagine a nicer setting for a pint and a meal with the mountain views and very well designed interior and patio. There's a big open grassy area where kids can play if they get restless.
They have change tables in the bathrooms which is awesome, but no high chairs for small children which I think would be an easy fix. The beer garden section of the patio is also dog friendly which is a plus.
The food is good. The mac and cheese is excellent and the chicken sandwiches were delicious. The chorizo burger was ok, but it felt like it would have benefited from a sweet or sour element like slaw or pickles to offset the spice. It was a bit dry for my taste though the flavour and spice level were great. Should also mention that the fries were delicious.
The beer was great as well, really loved the blood orange lager. The hazy IPA wasn't my taste as it had an unfamiliar note on the nose which seemed like an off flavour, but the west coast IPA was solid--light malt, nice and hoppy, and very enjoyable on a late summer evening.
Unfortunately the service could have been better the night we were there. We had several different servers and things seemed to get a bit confused several times. Waited a long time for water and napkins and several of the staff didn't seem to know what we had ordered. Some of the food also came out at different times, though all of it was hot. Might just have been an off night.
Would definitely...
Read moreThe heated patio was a real treat of a dining experience for three nights straight during our stay next door at the Jasper East Cabins. The service at the Brewery was very engaging and welcoming (a kind gesture during these wacky covid times). Over the three evenings we had time to try the in house made cider, beers, and food. Everything was truly wonderful, including the casual ,but very attentive serving staff. I liked their cider as it wasn't a dry style, I found it way easier to drink. With the beers I completely enjoyed the Moraine West Coast IPA, the Day Away xpa, and the Afternoon Social Hazy IPA. As for the food, they have hired an excellent chef and it shows. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich was my favourite two nights straight, with a side of their traditional poutine. The cRuNch of the chicken sandwich is very satisfying, the flavor has a nice kick of spice to it, while the interior is kept moist and juicy. I thought however, that I had found my favourite menu item until the third evening, when I tried the fresh tomato soup and Grilled Cheese of the day selection..this winning combo hit the spot on a cool evening. I would've liked for the temperature of the tomato soup to be a bit hotter with how fast it cooled off dining outside, but it may be difficult to do without losing character in the tomatoes. Really a minor detail in a hugely enjoyable three days sipping, dipping, and dining at the brewery. I will definitely be dropping by again when I'm in the area!...
