We were in Athabasca for the River Rats Festival and thought we would try the Fox Den for a meal. Not as convenient as eating right in the town centre. Bit of a drive and currently, with bridge construction, takes a bit of extra time. For us the food wasn’t very satisfying. Ordered a burger and a Club sandwich. The burger wasn’t very tasty. Bun a little dry. I could have a better burger for less money at A&W. Somewhere in the process the sandwich went from Club to just plain chicken. Bread wasn’t even toasted and was missing the middle piece. Service was alright. The atmosphere was spoiled by a loud obnoxious golfer whose voice filled the whole room. Read moreWe were visiting the area and played a game of golf there. It was around lunch time so we thought it would be great to have lunch here a the club. I entered and saw 2 people on the deck. Otherwise empty. Nobody came out of kitchen area. There were no food menus. A heavy set Grey haired fellow appeared behind the bar, looked at me then looked away and commenced to slice a lime. I asked if there were any menus we could look at? ...he never looked up. I then asked if there was table service or if we had to order at the counter. He never even looked up. Just kept cutting up his lime. Unless this poor excuse for a human owns the place, I suggest he be moved along. Any way, I just left. Sorry but unless things improve, I suggest they close...
