Golden Wings Restaurant — Restaurant in Alberta

It was late afternoon on a Sunday. We were hungry... but where to eat in this town. No one was open. Urbanspoon was certianly no help in this small old fashioned town. My partner said we should give up "Lets get out of here..." were the only words that were spoken by them.

But then we saw it. An open sign in a window. Golden Wings was there. Without any other option and a few hours drive to get back to Edmonton we decided we should try it.

Upon entering we were greeted with the nod of an elderly man who I presume was the owner. The decor was lacking. Sickly yellow paint decorated the walls along with trim and light fixtures from years gone by. We didn't expect much.

We ordered - We got sizzling shrimp/beef/chicken with rice, onion rings, ginger beef, sweet and sour chicken with rice.

WOW. The food was mind blowing. The onion rings were absolutely fantastic. They had a home made spiced batter. The ginger beef was fresh and had a perfect texture - this was not chewy and gross like standard mall fare!!! THIS WAS REAL!

In my short 27 years on this earth, in three provinces in which I've lived I never have had chinese this good (Excluding dim sum of course).

we decided to try this place, as we were in the area - we ordered a dinner for 4. I was so surprised with the sheer amount of dishes we got for the price! most chinese food places in my area will let you pick 4 dishes for 4 people, but we got at least 6. everything was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! this place has the best chicken balls I've ever had, hands down! the batter was light and crispy, and not raw at all on the inside. their fried rice is also delicious, and their sweet and sour sauce is tangy and sweet. i 100% recommend eating here! the owners are kind and patient, and the food is...

This restraunt deserves no stars. We googled this site and saw it was a 4.3 star restraunt. Despite the looks of the building itself we gave it a chance. We ordered 5 plates and we were not happy. 3 out of the 5 plates were OK but the other two were litterally burnt. We still had to pay for all dishes.
