Randomly stumbled across this lodge coming back from Peyto lake. And this was one of the best surprises I’ve experienced while in Alberta. We went in early fall of 2022, and the Hanging Glacier Cafe was open. I had a coffee, soup, sausage roll and ice cream sandwich. Everything was great, a bit pricey but worth it given the limited options around. They are pretty generous with the portions as well. All in all,if you want to enjoy a hot meal while enjoying the views of bow lake, or heading towards peyto and or mistaya canyon, definitely add this to one of your pit stops. There’s seating in front of the restaurant as well as by shoreline. They also accept credit and debit, unlike the Agnes Tea house. If we were to compare the charm factor and the overall dining experience, this place makes Agnes look like a food shelter.

Stopped by this little café near the lake and it was such a nice find! They sell hot and cold drinks, pastries, and I think even some food. The place is small with no full seating inside, but they do have a couple of tall tables indoors and a few tables with chairs outside. They also sell souvenirs, which was a nice touch. Perfect spot to warm up and grab something before enjoying the view by the lake!

What a place to sip coffee at! Absolutely love the views, the coffee and the vibe. Definitely a must do stop on your visit to Banff and Icefields Parkways

Visited this cosy place 2-3 times because it is a popular stopover for motorists driving along the Icefield Hwy from Banff to Jasper and back. Google ‘Bow Lake Lodge’ or if visiting the Bow Lake Viewpoint from Banff, just drive a little further and watch out for the sign to the Lodge (has a red roof). Plenty of parks but can be full on weekends. The hot chocolate and latte are nice, delicious brownies. Small souvenir area displaying works of local artists. Also here is close to the...
