Randomly stumbled across this lodge coming back from Peyto lake. And this was one of the best surprises I’ve experienced while in Alberta. We went in early fall of 2022, and the Hanging Glacier Cafe was open. I had a coffee, soup, sausage roll and ice cream sandwich. Everything was great, a bit pricey but worth it given the limited options around. They are pretty generous with the portions as well. All in all,if you want to enjoy a hot meal while enjoying the views of bow lake, or heading towards peyto and or mistaya canyon, definitely add this to one of your pit stops. Read moreVisited this cosy place 2-3 times because it is a popular stopover for motorists driving along the Icefield Hwy from Banff to Jasper and back. Google ‘Bow Lake Lodge’ or if visiting the Bow Lake Viewpoint from Banff, just drive a little further and watch out for the sign to the Lodge (has a red roof). The place is small with no full seating inside, but they do have a couple of tall tables indoors and a few tables with chairs outside. They also sell souvenirs, which was a nice touch.
