The 1887 Diefenbaker Dining Car — Restaurant in Alberta

We just had our Thanksgiving dinner that was from the Diefenbaker Dining Car. We are currently camping at Aspen Crossing so we got it delivered to our campsite.

The dinner was delicious! Everything was perfect and a great reminder of Thanksgiving when I was growing up. Dinner included: Roasted Butternut Squash Soup (very good!) Roasted Turkey (very tasty and not at all dry) Mashed potatoes Turkey Gravy (excellent) Stuffing (very good) Mixed vegetables, corn and green beans ❤️ Sweet potatoes (very good) Dinner rolls Pumpkin pie for dessert (excellent)

We attended to train car Friday October 13th for dinner. Prime Rib on Friday. We had company, my father & mother from Ontario including our daughter from Calgary join us! The prime rib dinner was absolutely delicious! Huge plate, beautifully plated; our prime rib was cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth delicious! The appetizers were yummy! Railway Rolls is a must try! We had the best evening! Thanks to the staff, they do an Awesome job! Highly recommend & we certainly will be back! We are in fact going for breakfast...

Very poor experience. Medium rare steak ordered was served well done. Rice was dry and old, like it was cooked yesterday. vegetables overcooked and included frozen corn. Service was understaffed. Manager should have been on the floor assisting. AND many hundreds of flies on the patio swarming our food that made dining brutally difficult. The cook needs training...and management needs to be better prepared for groups. A letdown after a nice drive to a unique location. Very...
