Little Gem In The Heart Of Millet
My wife and I drove out to Millet from Edmonton to try out this breakfast & brunch cafe. I often go by here for work and thought it might be nice to bring my wife out for a bite. She loves these out of the way spots and I enjoy surprising her. Walking through The Old Bank Cafe front door is like taking a step back in time. That sense of nostalgia. Simpler times. You are greeted by a warm & comfortable foyer decorated by trinkets and treasures from the past adorning the walls and comfy old timey chairs. This is a family run cafe and we were made to feel welcome by the friendly & conversational sister of the owners who truly enjoys the gift for gab & we loved it! After we ordered our delicious caramel lattes we grabbed a table & some menus. We just loved the Décor in here. Mismatched tables and comfortable chairs took me back to my babas house as a child. A real feeling of happiness washed over me and I knew I was at home. From the old bank vault doors to the nostalgic decor. I often found myself looking back to a previous area I had already seen only to realize I had missed another piece of decor from the first time. Layers upon layers. Very cleverly laid out. Great job by the owners. There is even a large patio deck area for those who enjoy to take their breakfast outdoors. Again. Well thought out with umbrellas and tables and comfortable chairs. Okay! So the food! Lol! Yes! We decided to go with what I recall as the western breakfast. Eggs were cooked perfectly as was the bacon (there are other choices of protein)plus it was nice of them to offer a few varieties of toast and jam. It came with roast hash browns that were seasoned spot on. I know! Even the hash browns had a special touch of flavor. The fruity garnish were plentiful. Oranges, pineapple 🍍 strawberry 🍓 watermelon 🍉. Such a pretty dish. Now we couldn’t pass up on the Cheesecake French Toast to share. Wow! So delicious! Three slices of French toast stuffed with a cream cheese filling covered in real whipped cream dusted with cinnamon and toasted almonds, slathered in a house made blueberry syrup to finish it off. Phew! Perfectly executed dish. We can’t wait to come back to The Old Bank Cafe and work our way though the menu. Definitely worth the drive. A Little Hidden Gem In The Heart of...

When it comes to the food at the Old Bank Cafe, Chef Jag Khamba's culinary skills are truly unparalleled. Every dish is prepared with utmost care and attention to detail, resulting in meals that are bursting with flavour and artfully presented which also is applicable to his selection of soups. Two of my favourites are his Tomato Basil soup and Split Pea and Ham Soup. The Tomato soup is made with tangy tomatoes and aromatic basil, creating an amazing flavour that make as want more!. Equally impressive is the Split Pea and Ham soup, hearty and flavourful, with tender chunks of ham enhancing the rich, earthy taste of split peas. These soups are just a mere glimpse into the culinary treasures that await you.

Read moreThe Old Bank is I think the first place I can call myself a “regular”. I went for the first time the first week they were open and go at least once a week ever since. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It is definitely one of a kind. The place you go to chat with your friends or take your family for brunch. The chef, Jag, remembers preferences in how things are cooked and without fail will always come ask how the meal was. The potatoes are my personal favourite and they come with almost every meal! Tina pours her heart into the decor and front of house. This place is more than a business. It is their heart and soul and it shows. They have chosen to hire mostly younger staff who are willing to learn, greet you with a smile, and are so beyond respectful. Each visit leaves you with heart and bellies full and anticipation for the next visit. From the kitchen staff to the front of house, you will not find a friendlier group anywhere. My 1 and only disappointment is that they don’t have evening hours. Hahahaha. It’s probably a good thing though or I’d be there all the time!! Thank you Jag and Tina for creating such a welcoming space. You might enter The Old Bank a stranger but guaranteed you will...
