WOW!!! my wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and we decided to come here for dinner. We were a little early so we decided to take a walk around the property /gardens and I must say it was very beautiful. Once we entered the restaurant we both felt like we were royalty :) We were greeted well and taken to our table - a beautiful table by the window over looking the ocean. Our server Kasia greeted us almost immediately with a warm smile and lots of energy. She took the time to ask if we were celebrating anything and we let her know it was our anniversary, almost immediately we were given champagne on the house. The manager Dawn also came to our table to congratulate us and have a minute to chat , she is a very lovely person and it was very much appreciated the attention to detail she had with the importance of making her guests feel welcomed. I am a chef myself so I know first hand about this industry and how it’s supposed to work and Dawn is the living example of excellence. We ordered our drinks and even those were delicious and different than elsewhere my rum and coke was made with expensive good rum lol - you can taste the difference , my wife’s pomegranate mojito was a perfect balance she said. The menu is well thought out and planned with something for everyone. We decided to try the gonicchi/mushroom , and duck breast for appetizers and it was delicious ! So much so that we ate slow with little bites trying to savour it ! Usually my wife l doesn’t eat much and that works for me because I get to eat more , but not here! She ate her share 😂!. Prior to our appetizers coming out we were give a basket of different breads and butter and we ate it all! A little amuse bouche came next and that was to die for. For our mains we both ordered the tenderloin but I skipped the veggies and got a side of Mac and Cheese With it . The steaks were cooked to perfection as ordered , nice and soft and melted in our mouths. My mac and cheese was the best I have ever had hands down. What was really great was that nothing was rushed , our food came in perfect time - not too soon , not too late - the timing of everything was perfect. Aside from the amazing food and drinks , our service was just as good. Kasia was amazing , her knowledge of the menu and drinks was impressive add on the fact her sense of humour and smile was on point I dont think she could have done a better job, I hope the establishment can see how valuable she is to them. She perfectly timed everything and promptly filled our water glasses when needed, quality checked on time , but still gave us our privacy. It’s not too often anymore that you encounter an establishment that the food and service are both a 10 /10 , this is one of those places, thank you Kasia , Dawn , and the rest of the team for making our night very special , memorable, and...
Read moreI normally never provide google reviews but because the Kingfisher Resort nor Ocean7 Restaurant responded to my email concerns on our dining experience, I was encouraged by friends and colleagues to provide my disappointment in the Ocean7 Restaurant and our poor dining experience. We made reservations about 2 months prior to our arrival stay at the Kingfisher Resort for the evening of Monday, August 23 for 7 pm. The resort is amazing and haven’t stayed there since 2016 and had enjoyed our time there previously. We ate at the Aqua restaurant the evening of August 22 and it was actually lovely. Received a call in the afternoon of August 23 asking if we could move our dinner reservation at Ocean7 to 7:15 pm and we agreed. Upon arrival, our table was in the back in the furthest corner of the restaurant so the worst table in the restaurant considering we had reserved so far in advance. Took that in our stride. We had the same waitress from the evening before and she appeared efficient and pleasant but quite flustered. Wine and appies served fairly quickly and we placed our order with the waitress as soon as we received our bottle of wine so within 20 minutes after sitting at our table. Our main course did not arrive until 2 hours later (9:07 pm). I had ordered the Roasted Pacific Halibut dish which tasted rubbery, dry and overcooked and as though it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. My husband’s seafood pasta dish seemed fresher since it was pasta but he said it was just okay. When our waitress asked how it tasted, I told her my meal tasted overcooked and rubbery and she siad "oh it shouldn't be? The kitchen is overloaded tonight" and took my dish away saying she would get a Scallop dish instead. The Scallop dish had burnt cauliflower as part of it and lost my appetite by that point as already 9:30 pm (and not a fan of cauliflower). When the final bill arrived, the waitress charged us for both my dishes (original Halibut dish and then Scallops) and no offer was ever made to compensate for their mistake or offer of dessert etc. so very disappointing. My husband remarked we wouldn’t be paying for two dishes for me when the first dish was uneatable, and the waitress apologized and removed the first Halibut dish from the bill but we still had to pay for the Scallops which I never finished. All in all, probably one of the worst meals we’ve ever had and no offer of service to make it better. We will not go to...
Read moreIf there is a zero rating they will get that ! Poor service - waited 1.5 hours for main and still did not come . We finished appetizers and waited close to 40 minutes for main and nothing came !
Firstly, Late customers were given priority and seated even as we checked in to the restaurant. We just ignored and thought it was a mistake .
Secondly they claimed each table seats max of 6 but there were guests of ten at another table . So they splitted our party of 8. Thought it was ok and maybe easier for them - four at each table
Wrong appetizers were served. Complained twice on main and on the third time we just walked off with all our guests of 8. Restaurant was not even full. Manager tried to silence you with ‘we will take care of the bill’ - wondering if this norm to bribe customers as we are are some ‘low class herd ‘. I hate to mention it but I sense some feeling of ‘class and colour treatment ‘ in this restaurant . Hate it when it happens in Canada.
Don’t bother to dine here it will only embarrass you because you may most likely host clients from far away places . I had to apologize to our own guests . My guests were appalled that Vancouver Island had such poor service to ‘certain groups’
And the manager was rude because she did not even bother to come to our table when we asked for her attention . She just claimed ‘wasn’t aware’ as we walked out. Best of all another waiter just said I can’t help because I don’t know how anything!
For that price - save it for Yaletown, Coal Harbour , Glowbal for ambience , view and service and food ! Most Horrible experience ! Don’t bother to dine here !
REPLY TO OWNERS RESPONSE:-
I THINK YOUR REPLY HAS NO GROUNDS AND FULL OF STANDARD EXCUSES. SO YOU ARE SAYING ALL EIGHT OF US IN THE GROUP WERE WRONG.
YOUR RESTAURANT WAS NOT BUSY ON THAT EVENING . YOU EVEN HAD A TRAINER TRAINING TEMP WAITRESS ON SETTING THE TABLES .
AND THE WORST PART YOUR MANAGER CAME OUT OF THE RESTAURANT AND RAN AFTER ME AND SHOUTED AT ME TO “STOP IT” I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH HORRIBLE ENCOUNTER BEFORE. THREATENED BY THE ESTABLISHMENT MANAGER
YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO REPRIMAND YOUR MANAGER, SUPERVISORS FOR GETTING A ZERO...
