We excitedly boated up to take visiting family to The Narrows Floating restaurant, given the positive reviews.
As others have said, it’s in a beautiful spot, scenic and, but the experience was … very difficult.
We made a reservation to arrive early to beat the dinner crowd, which worked well … at first. We arrived to a nearly empty restaurant. It took about 5 minutes for someone to seat us. Our reserved table was inside (we didn’t know this would be a mistake until later).
It took at least half an hour after being seated to request and receive our drinks. Another 15-20 to have our orders take. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. During that time the restaurant had filled up and it was so LOUD we couldn’t hear each other speak… it was unbearable. We all wished we had noise cancelling headphones to keep our sanity.
Our overworked server was friendly, warm and attentive, maybe a little disorganized (for example we asked for our bill but she cleared the plates from our table and all other tables before bringing our bill - another 10-15 minutes).
The halibut and chips was almost good, a little dry, good batter, small portions. The hamburger may be of the frozen meat patty ilk. The 2 fish tacos were small with only a small bit of overcooked fish. The menu is huge - maybe that’s why the kitchen is so slow?
Prices were reasonable, maybe a bit high for the portions.
For the first time in …. I can’t remember when we left a 5% tip. Was tempted to leave nothing but we did feel for the server’s situation.
We left disappointed and will not return or recommend to friends for a couple years. Maybe things will improve by then.
In the meantime if you go … make sure to be prepared to take at least a couple hours to eat. Sit outside on the beautiful patio to eliminate the noise factor. Go early ie 5 pm and maybe things will...
Read moreI visited The Narrows Floating restaurant today, and while it’s in a beautiful spot with great potential, the experience fell short.
The location is truly lovely—scenic and inviting, making it a place you’d expect to enjoy a relaxing and pleasant meal. Unfortunately, the service and food didn’t match the setting.
Our waitress was noticeably warm and attentive with other tables, but with us, her attitude felt curt and dismissive. It created an uncomfortable dynamic that made us feel unwelcome.
To add to that, both my friend and I ordered steaks to our preferred doneness, but they arrived well overcooked—dry and lacking in quality. For a restaurant in such a prime location, I expected much better.
Despite the poor service and food, I still left a 15% tip out of courtesy—though, in all honesty, it wasn’t earned. I truly hope this was just an off day, but I left disappointed and will not be returning or...
Read moreSuper cool restaurant on the docks. It’s pretty neat to be on a floating dock while enjoying your meal with a beautiful view. Our server was great - very attentive. Food was yummy, although I would try something different next time. Cocktails were average. Highlight of the meal was the shellfish pot - must try.
Update: I came here for a second time with guests from out of town. We all absolutely loved it and I’ll be taking all of our guests here in the future. Whatever the heck they do with the seafood sourdough bowl is pure magic. The only downside to this place is that it’s not open year round. ;)...
