My wife and I came here to watch the sunset and have dinner. What an amazing spot and view. Is the food a little pricy? Yes, but if you factor in the atmosphere, it is completely worth the extra few dollars for that view - especially at sunset.
I read a hilarious review on here before coming about the fries being soggy, and I can tell you that they were perfect (see photo). My crispy chicken burger was also delightful. Nice soft bunch, good flavour, nice and moist. Is it the best fried sandwich I’ve ever had? No - but it was exactly what it needed to be. My wife got the fried fish sandwich which was also very nice.
My problem with this restaurant has to do with the drinks. First of all, damn are they expensive - second of all they are god awful. I wouldn’t pay 1/3 of the price for what I got. There was supposed to be tequila in both of the drinks I got, and I know for damn sure there wasn’t. I told the waitress but she assured me that there was tequila. But I couldn’t taste it at all - and I have a very good pallet. So I definitely felt jipped and lied to. The pina colada had large chunks of ice, I had asked for it to be made with tequila instead of rum, and again could not taste the tequila at all. There was nothing pleasant about any of the drinks I got.
So my advice would be to go watch a beautiful sunset here, have a nice dinner and stick with water. Do not get a...
Read moreI absolutely loved this place! The location is just beautiful with the views and the atmosphere of the restaurant being suspended above the ocean water on a boardwalk. There's a sign when you come in that says "the best fish and chips!" So I obviously had to give a review of this place, it takes a lot to impress me! The best part of it was there was a ton of meat and light crispy batter, combined with the tar tar sauce tasted phenomenal, the batter had a flavor to it that wasn't just super oily deep fryer grease flavored. I am not sure if I can place this as number one, but I can definitely say it's in my top three fish and chips! The slaw didn't have much flavor however and the gravy wasn't that good for the chips, yes I got a side of gravy, I always do I also like to critique an establishments gravy if they offer it. As a starter I got the calamari and at first I didn't like it but as I kept eating my way through it started to grow on me. I would have liked it to be crispier, but that is my personal preference. The staff was amazing, and like I said the restaurant itself is magical. I absolutely love it and I would love to make it back there again to try...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place as it's close to home, in a beautiful location and fully gluten-free for my girlfriend. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
They made room for our group of 6 right away, but that was where the service stopped. After 15 minutes of waiting without a server coming by with menus and/or water, one of us went in to grab menus for the table. After another 10 minutes in the sun, we went back in and asked for water. A few minutes later a waitress brought out a tiny water pitcher but no glasses. Glasses showed up 10 minutes later. Eventually our orders were taken, and then when the food came out we weren't brought cutlery or napkins. Eventually we had to go back in and get our own cutlery and napkins.
Then there was the food. Soggy battered fish and mediocre fries. 1 tbsp of coleslaw. Weirdly watered down tartar sauce that tasted like nothing. Considering the ridiculously high prices ($24-32 for one piece, $33-47 for two piece fish and chips), the food was nowhere near the level it needs to be.
Unfortunately I can't recommend this restaurant. Lots of room for improvement. Lots of potential considering the...
