It’s really easy to drive on down the highway and not notice this place but we were so happy we did. We pulled over for a bathroom and food break after spotting a few other travellers also taking interest in this location.

Upon entry, we were quick to notice the store’s popularity. Their kitchen was busy with orders, while there was an interesting array of goods for sale on their shelving display by the side.

For lunch, we had some freshly prepared poutine and sandwiches. The meat in the sandwich had great smoky flavour, and the poutine had the perfect combination of texture, temperature and taste: what we look for in a good poutine. The pickles on the side were excellent as it neutralised the fattiness and richness in the gravy. We also had a bit of fun drizzling some maple syrup on our food. Each dining table had a bottle and it was the kind that they were selling.

On the shelf, the maple syrup caught our eye. They were bottled in different ways, and made for great gifts for friends and family. We bought a few stored in airtight aluminium cans as we later sent those to friends overseas. We also bought some of their fresh beef jerky and enjoyed having some over the rest of our road trip.

Whether you stop for a few minutes to stretch the legs, or a bit longer for a bite to eat and for some supplies, it is totally...

I found the Montreal smoked meat sandwich to be one of the best around this side of Quebec and the poutine was definitely one of the best I've ever had. The the fries were nice and crisp and fresh and the gravy was definitely a homemade gravy that tasted amazing and was nice and hot so the cheese curds actually melted and we're all gooey unlike most poutines that you find outside of Quebec were the cheese curds don't actually melt. I found the atmosphere to be amazing with a really cool decor with all sorts of custom wood furniture with an amazing fire pit out on the patio that you can sit around while eating your food. I also found the staff to be super friendly while providing amazing customer service. I will definitely be back when I'm in the 70 mile area again and will definitely recommend this place to all my...

If you have the opportunity to stop here, I heartily recommend that you do. The staff are charming and friendly, and the interior is clean, spacious, and bright. We had smoked meat sandwiches, and they may have been the best I've ever had; I doubt that you'll find any better outside of Quebec. The poutine and the beaver tail with maple cream were also excellent, and I recommend that you say, "Yes, please!" when they ask you if you'd like maple syrup in your coffee. They sell a wide variety of maple products, and I especially enjoyed the maple taffy, which you can purchase in a small pot from the freezer. If you've ever had fresh maple taffy made by pouring hot, fresh maple syrup onto snow, you will find your tastebuds transported back to that moment by this delicious...

-So what do you come here for?- Great food! Wonderful atmosphere! Very enjoyable service! Clean and wonderful location! Your hitting a 10 out of 10! We were a Google review stop and it was well worth anything we yet experienced. Breakfast was outstanding. Robert and his wife shared the love they have for this “Shack”. It is no shack! We as ones from the states waited to have poutine from a place that knew how to make it, and not some chain. It was Devine. Swiss coffee with cream and fresh maple syrup. I’m changed for life. Then we had their beef main recipe that came with special mustard sauce (sample). If this is the only place you stop on Hwy 97 it will be well worth it! Stop at any cost in your schedule!!! Thank you so much!

We came by for dinner while we were staying at a cabin on Green Lake and it is the highlight of the trip! The owner is absolutely lovely (as is everyone else there), and the food is DELICIOUS! The poutine was one of the best I've had, excellent fries and the yummiest peppercorn gravy. The smoked meat sandwich was equally great, super tender and flavorful meat and the bread - while not the star of the show - made for a perfect sandwich! To top it all off we had a beaver tail smothered in maple butter, the best end to the meal! For two of us an order of poutine, a smoked meat sandwich, and beaver tail was PLENTY of food, left very full and very happy. Thank you so much!!!.
