First of all we had to wait for our server to take our order to find out they don't serve what 2 of us were going to order anymore (French onion soup) they should have told us there was multiple items on the menu that they won't let you order when we got seated. So then we had to decide what we would get instead, the server took forever to come back, we got our drink order/food order in and my kids Shirley Temple came out fairly fast but our 2 drinks took over 20 minutes and it was dead.. Then my espresso martini came with a bunch of ice in it which is not how a martini is made.. So I sent it back and didn't bother getting a new drink because they clearly had no idea what they're doing and I'm not paying 15$ each for drinks that are poorly made, which was frustrating because I was really looking forward to getting some nice drinks before dinner and really needed one at that point.. Then it took FOREVER for our food to come and the beef dip has clearly been sitting for a bit because the bottom bun had absorbed a bunch of au jus that spilled onto the plate and was super soggy and gross, my kids strips were tiny and for 14 bucks with nothing else included you'd think they'd be a decent size. Of course the server didn't come to check how our food was for more than 10 minutes and by that point my mom had to eat her half of the sandwich because she needed to take her heart pills (her blood pressure was at 233 from all the stress when this was supposed to be a nice fancy relaxing dinner on our first night staying) then I told the manager about all the things when I could finally get her to come over and her response was "what do you want me to do about it" no apology..nothing.. Like um ok you're the manager you should be offering to do something about it... So I said well it would be nice to at least take the beef dip off the bill but she only wanted to remake it or take 50% off of it but at that point we just wanted to get the hell out of there not wait even longer for a new one so she begrudgingly took it off but after all the things honestly the whole meal should have been taken care of. Totally unacceptable for what's supposed to be a "fancy restaurant" totally ruined our first night and of course all the other nice restaurants were closed on the next day (Monday) so it was even more of a disappointment that we wasted our first night eating here. Would have had a better meal at McDonald's. Heard the same kind of stuff from other guests that ate there on other nights as well. Steer clear! Terrible drinks, food,...
Read moreWe really wanted to enjoy PMR and decided to try it out based on the great reviews on here. We arrived just before dusk and managed to have a partial view of the ocean through the resort cabins for about 10 mins by the window. After that, it’s like a sports bar with little to no ambience. We ordered fish and chips asking the server how big were the cod portions. She stated they were small and if we’re hungry 2 pieces would be better. So she upsold us. Our meal came in a timely manner, the restaurant was practically empty when we got there and there was a very casual feel to it. So casual, I noticed one of the serving staff was eating pizza at the chefs pass. Plates are put in front of us and server states laughing, sorry, the portions were bigger tonight (?) and they were, you couldn’t see the plate for the mound of chip shrapnel and bricks of fried cod on top. We started our meal after the usual salt vinegar applications and I’d literally taken my first mouthful when the server came back to ask how the first few bites are tasting. I just nodded with a mouthful. But actually it was not nice and our server had disappeared. The batter was crispy but oily, fish, mushy and chips were so dry, overcooked in oil that left our tummies feeling ghastly afterwards. This morning my husbands was still repeating on him! The oil on everything tasted old. Server appeared and came to get our plates. When she saw my plate still full of the (shrapnel) fries that tasted like they’d been twice fried they were so dry and chewy and the dark oily fish I couldn’t eat, she asked if I wanted a box. No attention paid to the fact that I didn’t eat it. Honestly these days, when eating out costs an arm and a leg, we expected better. I can’t be bothered to confront servers and managers about bad food and service these days, nobody seems to care. We just won’t go back and we’ll write a review and tell our friends and family not...
Read moreI recently visited Pacific Moon Rising Bar and Grill, expecting a pleasant dining experience given its reputation as part of a "high end" resort. Unfortunately, it was anything but.
Upon arrival, we waited 15 minutes before a server even greeted us. Frustrated, we had to go find our own wine menu. When we finally chose a wine, we were told it was out of stock. After asking about a few other options, we eventually settled on another wine. The server then struggled to open the bottle, almost breaking the cork.
We ordered shrimp and prime rib for dinner. After 45 minutes, the server returned to inform us they were out of rare prime rib. We accepted this and asked about our appetizer, which still hadn’t arrived. She seemed flustered and rushed off to the kitchen. Meanwhile, two other tables that arrived after us received their meals. It became clear our server had forgotten to ring in our order.
After another 15 minutes, we flagged her down again. She assured us the food would be out in seven minutes, but after 1.5 hours of waiting, we had enough. We asked to cancel our dinner order. Despite the terrible service and lack of food, we were presented with a bill for the mediocre $70 wine we had been forced to settle for.
To top it off, the patio was dirty, adding to the overall disappointment. For a place that’s supposed to be a luxury dining destination, the experience left us feeling hungry, frustrated, and ripped off. We never do this, but we left without tipping and won’t...
