For years we have been riding our motorbikes to the Hixon Take Out for dinner. We have been out 4 times this year and 3 of the 4 times we arrived just after 6pm to find them closed. Last night we rode out there, arrived at 6:12pm and they were just preparing their last order and closing up. Frustrated, we asked what time they close. The snotty answer we got was "whenever we feel like it". As we were there 2 other vehicles pulled up and were equally disappointed. The time before, there was another group of riders that were upset that it was closed. So needless to say, we won't be making that trip anymore. Too bad, they have good burgers....
Read moreAs the mom's of northern BC so eloquently put it "this place is bumpin'". Hixon take out boasts a classic oldschool burger joint menu, with a distinct northern canadian feel. The locals love it, and are eager and often customers. Able to crank out 10 orders in as many minutes, hixon' is suitable for a larger gathering, or a small family pit stop. Milkshakes, sundays, and all other items were readily available. Wasps or other unfriendly critters posed no issue at all. Over all, a friendly, hearty experience.

I was really looking forward to it. $25.50 for a bacon cheese burger, regular cheese burger and small onion rings, which is what I expected to pay. However, an hour later, what I got was a burned bacon cheese (that my son forced down) and a chicken burger that wasn't part of my order. Another person in our group didn't even get his burger but got mine. Still charred beyond being edible. I was so disappointed that I just left it on the counter.
