I saw this ad for Valentines and since we have enjoyed Church of the Blues Sundays multiple times we thought this would be a good choice over traveling to Vancouver. I first called to make a reservation and was told they only take reservations for 6 or more. The lady on the phone assured me she didn't think it would be busy as there were no private events and even said it should be "just a few locals". I thought it was very strange to only take reservations for 6+ people for Valentines dinner so thought I would call again the next day to enquire. A very pleasant lady named Terry took my call and said she was glad I had called back as they had asked their manager and were accepting reservations for parties of 2 for this night only. She informed me it would be extremely busy due to music bingo wich I thought would make for a fun night. Funny because 8hrs before speaking to Terry the other lady on the phone assured me it would be a slow night and I wouldn't even require a reservation (after telling her we were driving from Langley). As we make our way there we hit a road detour at Harris Rd. and I call their number at 7:33 (reservation made for 7:30) and after 2 people screaming into the phone "I can't hear you!!!" 5 times I finally get through that I'm calling to let them know we are still on our way to wich she states " I just crossed you off my list!" WOW! 3 minutes grace I asked her. Then she said oh, never mind we have a table but very abruptly states but we're out of the special, you'll have to order from the main menu. OUT OF THE VALENTINE MENU AT 7:30! THE PRIME DINNER RESERVATION TIME FOR ALL RESTAURANTS IS BETWEEN 7 AND 8 SO SOMEONE REALLY DROPPED THE BALL! ESPECIALLY WITH A RESERVATION MADE FOR THEIR ADVERTISED VALENTINES DAY DINNER. We decide to still go after checking that our only other close alternatives such as Sossys or the Broken Whisk were fully booked. We arrive and this was the absolute loudest music bingo I have ever been to. The announcer screaming on the microphone so loud it was like standing next to a speaker at a concert. There was no way for us to even have a conversation as we couldn't hear each other AT ALL over the super annoyingly loud announcer. The music wasn't too loud just the yelling bingo announcer. Our waitresses was gruff and approached us with an actual dirty look on her face (weird). So we tried our hardest to not let the Dewdney wreck our Valentines night out and ordered fish and chips and pulled pork mac and cheese. We ordered at 7 :45 as we were told their kitchen closes early. We received our food 1 hour and 10 minutes later! For fish and chips and Mac and cheese? Super ridiculous! When it arrived no apology from the waitress but she now had her fake customer service smile on hoping to not be left zero at the end of the night is my best guess. I had to get up and ask her at the bar for a second glass of wine after sitting and waiting for 20 minutes. She seemed much happier to be socializing with her colleagues since the bar had already started emptying out by 9 pm. The Mac and cheese and fish were good but not worth the terrible service and LONG wait. It sure wasn't the steak they had advertised when I made the reservation. To cap off the evening our waitress left us with food on the table and no drinks for another 30 minutes. I watched her come through the back door behind the stage so maybe off on her break the whole time. Our last time at the Dewdney for sure. There are literally hundreds of choices for restaurants and bars in the Fraser Valley and this restaurant/bar doesn't deserve anyone's time or dollar. A horribly disappointing...
Read moreWe really do wish our first experience could have been much better. We got there at 6 p.m. hoping to have the pasta special, while playing some Keno. We walked in to see only one server in the whole establishment, a large table of 15 people right smack-dab in middle of the floor. We immediately knew Keno was not going to be an option. There was a pool table room to the left, full of people, so we found a table around the corner to the right of the entry door, an area not very inviting. There was 0 lighting in that room & it was somewhat dark & uninviting
Server said in passing, "It's going to be a long wait until I get to u because I'm the only one here working" We sat & waited...& waited. 15 minutes later she made her way to our table to take our drink order. We waited another 15 min for her to come back with our drinks. I'd asked for clamatoe juice, which she forgot. While waiting for another 10+ min for her to bring it, I had to stop her & remind her. She seemed stressed. Finally she comes with clamatoe, & takes our order. We both order the special, but cannot have it because it's sold out!! sigh
So we have to order something else. Husband ordered a burger & I ordered super beef dip. Another LONG wait.... 26 min to be exact. & my beef dip meat is COLD like it just came out of the fridge & there is no cheese or mushroons! Uggg. When server finally came back to ask how our meals were (husband had already finished 3/4 of his burger & I stopped eating mine because it was gross...she offered to bring it back & have it reheated. I declined because I wasn't going to wait another 20+ minutes for anything at that point.
We were there a total of 2 hrs & not once asked if we wanted another beer or anything. I get she was swamped & I appreciate the effort she made getting to everyone in the establishment & we do NOT blame her at all. But when u have over 30 ppl in a food serving bar & customers spread out all over the floor & only 1 person to take orders, serve orders, tend bar, cash tend ect... that is not right. Not fair to her & not fair to the customers who are paying for a meal & in our case to come out & enjoy evening with a few drinks & Keno. (which we were unable to do because she was all over the place + there is only one Keno screen TV which was in the room the party was in) & YES we still gave the girl a tip. She was working hard & deserved It, even if I was not happy with our particular service.
On a positive....they have Keno, pulltabs, pool table, open mic night, kereoke, live bands, dancing & it can also be used as a wedding venue outside. Oh and my husband's burger was HUGE & he enjoyed it. Fries were also seasoned nicely. We will for sure give this place another try. A recommendation would be to put keno screens in EACH room so all customers can see. We would have stayed a few extra hours if that had...
Read moreIt was my first time going here yesterday, I was with my friends and my two kids. We just got back from camping and were looking for a place to eat as weâre all starving. Three of my friends already been to this place and had a good experience. So weâre expecting to have the same experience as well. When we first came in, everything was great. Then we ordered our food al together but 4 separate bills (weâre 12 people, 1 Canadian guy and the rest of us are Asian). First order came about 10-15 mins after we order(which is my Canadian friendâs order). The second order came around 40mins and when he ate his food it was cold( he ordered pasta). He immediately informed one of the server (not the server assigned to our table)she apologize and took the food to re heat it. Then it took 20mins for the next ones to arrive(3 pasta,2 burger and a basket of fries). Me and one of my friend ordered bbq ribs and those were the last to arrive. Took us an hour of wait(or prolly longer than that), and when it came it was so cold like they didnât put enough time in the microwaveđ¤Śđťââď¸ so we informed one of the server (not the server assigned to our table). She took the food and re heat it again and took another 10-15mins of wait so we decided to make it for to go. We lost our appetite because of the waiting time. They said they were busy but we saw other guests being attended right away. I even saw other guest who just came in having their food right away. I just couldnât help to feel racism as weâre the only Asian at that time. I donât know but I felt really off. Then before we left, I told our server that we didnât appreciate the long hours of wait, like I totally understand if theyâre really busy but the fact that weâve waited that long and our foods are still cold is not acceptable. She just literally said â Ok, Iâm gonna let the kitchen knowâ. And I was like âPlease and thank you!â.She went back inside looking so pissed and heard her say âWelcome, backâ in a sarcastic way. Likeeee girllllll??? Really??? Not even an apology that we had a bad experience? Anyway, I hope the management will notice my feedback and change the way how they treat their customer. No matter who or where they came from.
PS: We were expecting that theyâll give us a replacement for our order (the ones that we had for to go instead) as a courtesy or somethinâ,But it was literally the same onesđ¤Śđťââď¸ they just put...
