Our experience on beer and burger night was so bad we could only laugh about it. We arrived 5 minutes early to be told they did not have a table big enough for the 6 we had a reservation for. After a brief delay with a hostess who seemed genuinely stunned we were in fact seated. Unfortunately our table was on the other side of the wall from the bathrooms where they are apparently having issues with plumbing that they are well aware of, judging by the conspicuous presence of an aromatherapy diffuser against the floorboard. One of our party is in pest control and compared the smell to a trap that had been left over the weekend. It was hard to argue with that visual. Drinks were 20 minutes to get to the table. By drinks I mean draft beer, not elaborate cocktails. Everyone's burgers came out under cooked or outright raw, with the exception of one very dry elk burger. The burgers were accompanied by 3 small pieces of potato I mistook for garlic cloves due to their size, 3 leaves of kale and a ramekin of some sort of sickly looking Au Jus that reminded us of dirty bath water. I looked around after my beer sat empty for 10 minutes and caught the eye of the hostess. She asked "Did you need something?" with the tone you would use if you found someone you didn't know rummaging through your garage on a Sunday afternoon. Not outright anger because you're giving them the benefit of the doubt that they mistook your open door for a garage sale, but just enough attitude to make it clear you have better things to do than deal with whatever this is. Myself and one other ordered beers before she left without asking the others with empty glasses in front of them. When the 2 beers arrived almost 15 minutes later the rest placed their orders for fresh drinks, sent the most raw burger back, and began to discuss how the meal was going so far. After another 10 minutes without fresh drinks arriving one of the party went to the bar to cancel the orders not received and request the bills. Another 10 minutes in we all stood and went to the till to try and move things along. Rather than any sort of apology or explanation for the lack of service and terrible food we were greeted by the hostess holding the bills in her outstretched arm and loudly asking "who had the uncooked burger?". It was surreal. Not sure if she was trying to shame the chef, embarrass us or just had enough of her day at that point. It really is a shame because the restaurant is in such a great spot and they've got a beautiful patio for the warmer weather but the 6 of us won't be back anytime soon after that meal. Hopefully they can pull it together before it's...

After I posted this terrible review, I noticed that the owners generally reply to the good reviews but rarely to the bad reviews, which are aplenty. Hopefully they will be out of business soon and a good quality restaurant will take it's place. Absolutely the worst restaurant food ever! We should have believed the poor reviews but we thought, it couldn't be that bad! It was worse. My husband and I are in our 70's, and, at our age, we still run our own successful business because we offer quality service and quality products. We go out to eat a lot. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, our first impression was not good. The manager was at the hostess desk and was not friendly at all, actually surly. I told her we had reservations and instead of welcoming us she just took us to our table. Never once did she smile in a friendly manner. We ordered the mussels and the prime rib burger. The burger was the size of a junior burger from a fast food restaurant. It was dry, unappealing and instead of french fries they served home fries. Were they left over from a breakfast? It definitely was not prime rib! The mussels were slimy in an awful salty broth. I love mussels but could only eat about 5 before I apologized to our server, who was the only bright light in that she was vey friendly, that I just couldn't eat the mussels. I ordered the calamari instead. The surly manager then came to our table, said not a word as she stared at the bowl with the few mussels I had eaten, picked up the dish and walked away. The calamari arrived and were almost worse than the mussels. They were undercooked with a white sauce with no taste. My husband tried to explain to the surely manager that they were undercooked and was told that they love them like that in California! Perhaps we have better taste in Canada! They charged us for the inedible calamari and we paid over $70.00 for a totally inferior meal. What is worse, the owners were in the restaurant and never came to our table to apologize. They must have noticed what was going on as there were only about 4 other people in the restaurant. To add more unprofessionalism to the restaurant, we could hear an infant crying which, according to other reviews, is the child of the chef! Really!! Avoid this restaurant...

My family and I visited the Boatshed for Father's Day, and unfortunately it was disappointing. We had a reservation for breakfast at 10am. When we arrived, it was clear we were the first to be seated, as there were no other patrons. The hostess wasn't very friendly and didn't waste any time letting us know that we had to be out by noon, as they were fully booked. Of course, it having been a holiday, this sort of arrangement is understandable. Perhaps if they had let us know at a more appropriate time--like when we booked the reservation, it would've come off less unwelcoming and hurried. Our server was lovely and our caesars were scrumptious. The food certainly left something to be desired. It was all rather plain, they were out of several things on their special Father's Day menu, which was brought to our attention too late. No to mention surprising, considering that would've been the day to have those items. My eggs benny was supposed to have come with avocado and roast veggies, but instead came with nothing. To make up for this, I got served orange slices. My sisters French toast arrived already drenched in syrup, rendering it soggy and all too sweet for her liking. Furthermore, coincidentally we knew the table dining next to us. We heard later from them that they waited 75 minutes for their meal. We were recommended by a friend to try the Boatshed, but will not be returning based on our experience. In our collective opinion, it was not...
