A woman came in with her daughter and immediately started making odd requests, and being dismissive and rude. When she got her food, she complained that the hash browns weren’t “crispy” ... obviously she had never tasted pan fried potatoes before?????? She also said the rest of her food was “disgusting” and she was sending the entire plate of food back. She sent her daughters back too and then proceeded to order her a sundae because “it’s pretty hard to screw that up.” Susan was her server and handled the situation with perfect grace, explaining that the potatoes were pan fried and that’s how they normally make them here. She was very kind and continued to smile as this woman was a complete doorknob. Now we wait for her daughter to get her sundae while she leaves for the bathroom for the 100th time..

UPDATE: her daughter spilled chocolate sauce on her and she threw a fit.

Anyways, my point is I come to Abernathy’s regularly and the food is always good and the service is great too. Small businesses should be celebrated and if you can’t respect that, go back to the city where they serve “crispy”...

Honestly it was in-between the summer and the snow although this is such a beautiful 4 season destination, there is still a in-between calm before the snow storm * season we wanted to go have a sit down meal try a new restaurant, so it was too early or places were closed till .... all the locals are like go to the truck stop like ob truck stops usually have good food but .. The food was 100 times better then I have had in a long time. my word these potatoes were magic 😆 beefy perfectly cooked and seasoned fry with gravy . We got the special and the burger was massive, bacon 🥓 cheese 🧀 Vegies just right. Maybe it was all the hiking but I had such a nice meal, nice view out the window , cool little restaurant friendly warm atmosphere. The staff were so nice and friendly and knowledgeable I just love it at this restaurant I want to move in so I just copied those if you know I'm pretty sure there's was a lady chef but I can't clearing remember anything after the couple beers. Hand made beef Patty's and fries 🍟 how fires should be thanks for the epic meal and friendly...

Food, gas, mechanic all reasonable priced and all on one lot. I had driven by this restaurant numerous times. I stopped for a change and was pleased I did so. Other reviewers indicated the food was like home cooking. I agree with them. Service was warm and friendly. One was made to feel at home. The prices are excellent as compared to what places in Valemont are charging (I included a copy of their menu for reference purposes). Conveniently located on the same lot is a gas station that is self serve and open 24/7 365 days/yr. You do need to pay at the pumps, I didn’t see an attendant. Their price for gas is always lower than in Valemont (where only Tempo post their price). Separate from the gas station but again on the same lot is an old fashion service mechanic shop. I saw them assisting a traveller with their tires. Overall, a great experience of old fashioned service. Please note, the location is not...

This is the real deal. It's a Truck stop in the Rockies with good, homestyle cooking. All day breakfast was great. I asked for eggs poached medium and they were done perfectly the first time here,.I had the special the second time. The special came with the best turkey barley soup I've ever had,. The vegetables were overcooked, just like Mom used to make, which made me feel right at home, and for dessert--strawberry jello. Surprisingly good. Prices are reasonable. Nothing fancy here. But a good place to stop when you're on the road. The food is real, honest, without pretension, and is it ever a great place to stop after coming out of the beautiful BC backcountry.

Good food for a good price. And the quantity or food for your dollar in this whole area, and made from scratch when ordered. Though It was a Monday at 7 am when I went in... The best thing about this place is it has that down home small town feel that has been frozen in time in the best possible way.... last of the old school truck stop diners. Run by great, friendly people. And home of the beat strawberry rhubarb pie I ever had!!! Which says alot since I don't usually like that kind
