Local residents may not want this gem to become too well known as I can imagine that they want to keep it to themselves. I was recommended to the Frog Peak Cafe by friends in Castlegar who regularly make the pilgrimage to this delicious Mecca. I’m visiting from the west coast and can attest that the Frog Peak is one of my best food experiences. Looking at the menu, they had me at Eggs Benny, so I ordered the Sunshine that includes avocado, tomato, and sunflower sprouts. It also came with a generous helping of pan seared potatoes. I added a mocha to the order for the perfect breakfast. I judge restaurants by their eggs Benedict and I wasn’t disappointed. The Hollandaise sauce was silky smooth and delicious. The potatoes were crispy and hot, and I must admit I anointed them with my childhood addiction of ketchup. The Mocha stayed wonderfully hot long enough for me to linger with it after the breakfast was gone. The staff were very friendly and the vibe is funky cafe with a diverse collection of interesting signs, memorabilia and odd bits. It is more than worth the detour even if you aren’t heading up the Slocan Valley. Just turn off 3A and head up a short distance to this lovely cafe. You will be glad you did.

This place is so cool! It’s a must go! My sister and I were visiting crescent valley Sunday- wendsday we waited three days and got up early so we could come here as they are closed Sunday- Tuesday, it was totally worth it! Everything is so magical and it’s an overall awesome experience, I love it and look forward to visiting again. The traditional eggs Benedict was amazing! The sunshine was good as well but not my favorite. My sister got the goatee and that one is amazing also ( lots of goat cheese so be warned if that’s not your thing) The caramel latte I got was not good but I’m sure if you like black coffee you wouldn’t be disappointed. They had many other things on their menu I would love to try and I highly recommend this place! It’s so cute, like a fairytale.

The only downside to this restaurant is our opposing schedules. Failing to check online hours can lead to dissappontment as we have missed the boat 4 different times. The sign says all day breakfast but you might be out of luck for eggs benedict if you come too late in the day. I would say that theirs is in the top 2 I have ever had in my life. I would have liked an extra order of egg to satisfy my hunger or some extra potatoes. The curry ketchup was definitely amazing! The chai tea was ordinary but milky. We returned the following day but once again did not read the play on the hours -- so we will come again another day. Price is on the upper end and if the portions were slightly bigger they would match perfectly.

To say the food here is good, would be a terrible understatement. To say the food is great even, wouldnt be doing the quality of it justice. In fact, I have yet to find a word in the english language to properly describe how incredible the food here is. If the royal family were to visit, this is where I would recommend. By far, the best tasting panini, I have ever had. And the rice bowls... wow. The quality; extreme. The taste is on another level, and doesnt leave you feeling greasy or heavy, leaves you feeling refueled amd energized. The smoothies and iced coffee, I felt I didnt deserve such a fine tasting beverage. Frog peak sets a high, high bar for cafes and restaurants around. If youre passing through, and are hungry, or even live in the area, this should be your first choice of where to eat out....
