Youbou Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Area I (Youbou / Meade Creek)

Worst customer service ever. A group of 8 of us arrived for lunch. The place wasn’t open yet so we waited until it opened at noon. We went in and sat down. The place was empty as we were the first customers. The server informed us they were short staffed although we saw at least five total staff present. We said that was no problem at all for us as we understood.

Firstly, We wanted to put two tables together and another sever said “No moving tables”. The other server then passed out menus and stated to us “normally we require a reservation for groups bigger than 4 people so that’s something to keep in mind for next time.” We all looked at her in bewilderment. After all this was an old pub, not a five star restaurant. It actually looked quite dirty both inside and out but we just wanted some lunch. One of our ladies in our group then stated to her “should we leave?” The server then glared at her and shrugged her shoulders. We were all stunned. Clearly they didn’t want our business since they tried everything to dissuade us from eating there. We just got up and left. Will never be back and I wouldn’t waste my time going to this dump. I can’t comment on the food since we didn’t get any. ...

Ok! So... I've not been to the Youbou pub in probably 10 years but this afternoon on our way home from our property I said Hey let's go in. Ohhhhhh Myyyyy Goshhhhhhh! We had soy green onion chicken wings to start and The chicken pot pie... The wings were great! And then along came the pie....holy crap!!! I swear I have not had a meal this good in a restaurant in years ....it is way better then my own chicken pot pie which I pride myself on!!!! It has a beautiful, buttery, perfect ,flakey top and bottom crust and the filling is what pot pie dream are made of. When were we eating it I could not stop talking about how delicious it was! This is a big deal for me because my husband and I are both good cooks so we can be a little picky at times. There's 12 left (I think ) we bought 2 to go.... I highly recommend indulging in the rich and flavorful pumpkin squash soup (oh my god, the soup!), which pairs perfectly with the hearty turkey sandwich, zesty fish tacos (oh my god, the pickled cabbage), and the mouthwatering jerk chicken butternut squash ravioli (oh my god, the sauce). Don’t miss the savory garlic margherita pizza and the crispy onion burger, which adds the perfect crunch. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared with incredible flavors that will leave you craving more.
