UPDATE: Well, we TRIED to “try” this restaurant yet again and made reservations for their advertised Sunday Brunch on April 23, 2023. We all arrived at 10:50 am for our 11am reservation….and were promptly told as we walked in that they were “out” of all breakfast food. No eggs, no breads, no bacon, no brunch ingredients!!!! What??? We thought they were joking. Nope! Who is running this place? Who’s in charge of the kitchen and food ordering?—because they repeatedly do an awful job (see my initial review below). Time for a new manager. Also, they made such a big deal about taking our phone number when we made a reservation yet never thought of calling us to let us know they were out of breakfast food? Run to a store and pick up some ingredients for goodness sakes! Do you know how far we’ve come to attend your restaurant? That we’ve planned our Sunday around your brunch? That it was a special occasion? That we had golfing booked after the brunch? No. You had our reservation and info… How do you run out of food 50 minutes into service AND not call the customer? I guess your time is more important than mine. ??? Their response at the door was a real “who cares, whatever” attitude and we were all offered a slight discount “next time”. LOL…there won’t be a next time.

INITIAL REVIEW: Have eaten here a couple times or done takeout many times. Ive gotten used to them saying they are out of ingredients or my order is either oddly tiny for the high price or is missing integral ingredients…or they are sold out by 5pm of the day’s special. Its ridiculous. I appreciate that they change the menu relatively often but I can’t say I’ve ever really had anything truly on the menu as there’s always an issue with my order. Not a place I can recommend. Drive the 15 minutes into Kamloops for a huge amount of great restaurant choices of all...

⭐ Consistently Disappointing for the Price ⭐ We’ve come here several times because it’s close and convenient, but unfortunately every single visit has been disappointing. For a restaurant attached to one of the top golf courses, I expected much higher standards-especially given the prices. The biggest issue is the food quality. As someone who works in the industry and values fresh ingredients, it’s disheartening to see so much reliance on pre-packaged, frozen products. The salads often arrive with brown, wilted low quality lettuce that should not be the base, when you’re charging premium prices. The chicken fingers taste like they came from Costco, at this price point, they should be fresh, hand-breaded chicken breasts. Even the beef dip—a dish I love and order often—was disappointing, served with pressed meat instead of quality shaved beef. Service is hit or miss. The staff are kind, but it’s consistently slow—I often have to get up to ask for cutlery, napkins, or even another drink. For the cost of dining here, that level of service just isn’t acceptable even if the woman are wonderful. And on hot summer days in the heat of Kamloops, one of the biggest letdowns has been the drinks. Too often, bottled or draft beer is served barely cold. If you’re going to charge premium prices for beer, it absolutely needs to be served ice-cold. Another frustration is the lack of value. There are no happy hour options, no specials, and no incentive to come back. Especially when other golf courses and restaurants offer great happy hour menus, fresh food, and better pricing on drinks. This place has so much potential given the location and setting, but until they focus on fresh, quality food, consistent service, and proper attention to detail, it feels like an overpriced disappointment rather than a place I...

Update July 2025: Terrible experience. French fries stale. French Dip had something that resembled meat in it. All seems to be prepackaged products. As the smoker and BBQ sit totally idle outside. Error on the bill. Not sure what happened here but unlikely we will be back for food. The beer was cold. But at $11 a pint, it better be. And a lot of Asian food. Wonder why. The kitchen has severely dropped back in quality.

Updated July 2022: What a spot. The more we go there, the more we love it. Our favorite spot to go to. Back to 5 stars again.

Updated July 2021 : The year before, (2019) I would have given this place 7 stars if I could. Most amazing kitchen in the TRD. Amazing cuisine. But in the year (2020) they changed the menu that now more reflects a soup and sandwich place. BUT I am told that they are bringing some of the old items back. They should bring back "ALL" the items as the old menu was great. I have tried to check the change in menu this year, now 2021. Regretfully, not all the old items came back albeit it is a little better now. On my last review I also forgot to mention the staff. They are absolutely wonderful. They always remember to bring bowls for our doggie. All very pleasant and so is Travis. Boy is he good. Very good. The views and the staff keeps us...

Beautiful views. Beautiful patio. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately I would have to say this last experience was underwhelming. And a little on the expensive side for two of us with three glasses of wine the bill was just over $100. My portion size was relatively small. I had the roast chicken. The food was nicely presented the gravy and sauces were good but the chicken was a bit dry except at the very heart of it. My wife's portion was adequate. But of course it should be noted you don't go to a restaurant, at least we don't because of the portion size. You must also keep in mind this is a restaurant at a golf course albeit a nice golf course. But having said that the entrees were $25 each. And my wife's was the special. If we had to give it a rating we would say 6 to 6.5 out of 10.

Ordered a fish n chip and a sandwiches and soup. The maple butter squash soup was good but the rests were below par! The fish n chip were greasy, fish was plained and the fish meat was not held together! Never see the fish meat like this before. Chips were soaked with oil, just like heated by microwave! Very unappetizing! The sandwiches with too much mustard, can't stand way too spicy! Don't think we will go again. By the way, the staff are nice and friendly. That's why I give 2 stars.

We have been to the Black Iron for a couple of thier special menu's over the past couple of years, and have always enjoyed the food and service. We made the jaunt there tonight, and had the Seafood Sandwich special, and the Elk Burger. Food was really good, and the server very friendly and attentive. Definately will be going back for both the food and the view
