Iron Horse Pub — Restaurant in Area L (Lone Butte/Interlakes)

Our cousin recently passed away and her friends and neighbors held a memorial for her at the Iron Horse. I can only say good things about the pub, the staff and the people who live in the area. The staff made sure our group of out-of-towners was well looked after. The food was solid pub food. I had chicken wings which were messy but well cooked and tasty. The beef dip was also a big hit as was the burger special. We got there at 5 and the place was packed by 6 and not everyone was there for the memorial so a full house on a Thursday night was very impressive. As for the memorial itself I really got to witness first hand the elusive "sense of community" we all would like to live in but can't seem to find. Everyone seemed to know each other and they all had stories about our cousin. It was a real eye-opener for someone who has lived in cities his whole life. One last thing about the pub and it's staff. By about 9pm I noticed there was only a few of the memorial attendees left in the pub, all the other patrons had left. I checked online and noticed the actual closing time was 8pm. So here we are an hour after closing and we were still being served, great tunes playing and no mention of closing. That's what I call going...

Great service but mediocre food.

The serving staff were all great. We got there and were seated immediately, asked about drink orders and received them quickly. Our server was friendly and polite.

The menu looks pretty good. I had a hard time deciding and we ended up settling on sharing a few pizzas and a poutine for the table.

After placing our order the food came fairly quickly, starting with the poutine, which was honestly really good, minus the pulled pork that was on top. The gravy used was pretty delicious and the cheese curds were great as well. I can't put my finger on what was wrong with the pulled pork but our table all agreed it was bad. Maybe it'd be better on something else.

The pizzas came and looked good. Honestly the toppings on them were fine. Nothing special but good enough. The sauce was ok as well but the crust... The crust reminded me of a pre-made crust you buy from a store. It was dense, thick, and had no colour on the bottom.

Ultimately I'll probably be back and give it another shot and update my review accordingly. The burgers and nachos coming out looked pretty good.

Every restaurant has an off night. But from my first impression it seems like the service staff are...

We went there on a Tuesday for steak dinners. The steak was quite good. It was our first visit. The server informed us that the following night was wing night. Our bill was almost 130$ on steak night. We had 2 sreak dinners and appys and desserts. Only soda to drink. We did return with our daughter and her boyfriend for wings the following night. It was a NIGHTMARE. we ordered 100 wings between everyone but again, we ordered salads and appys and food to take home to our other 2 kids at home. Only sodas again. Desserts too though. Our bill was 173$. Over half of the wings had to be returned. My wings went back twice before I said forget it. They were raw inside. Even our server was horrified when she saw. Then my hubby, had the exact same issue. Im not sure if they had the fryers set too high to pump out volume...but....we did end up sick to our stomach. We have not returned. We went home and ended up cooking soup. Still hungry...
