Food safety issues, I ordered sweet potato fries and a bottle of water. The fries came out fast, when I got to the car in the carpark the fries were just warm, kind of cold. So I returned them, the staff seemed a bit intimidated but it wouldn't have been needed if they followed their training. Anyways they seemed to make fresh fries and I didn't wait too long, but the service wasn't good enough and it felt awkward to get the second fries, the staff said they'd be hot, which they were, so I let them cool a little, and then ate them, only they were not fully cooked, only about a couple more seconds in the fryer would have completed the cooking process. I feel the staff at this A&W is not following SOPs and I question if the staff have their Canada food safety certificates. I returned the fries a second time and said the fries were not fully cooked. But the staff told me the sweet potato fries are a different texture at A&W and they are hard, I don't recall any other A&W being semi cooked, as I work in the food service, I know the fries are not cooked properly. Customer service is untrained, I'm unsure if these guys are a joke for Norwood or they just testing customers for a study perhaps. Either way it's poor management.
Hopefully management will listen to their customers and train...
Read moreIf I could rate 0 stars I probably would.. Not sure where to even begin..drive thru times do not exist at this location, nor does customer service. You spend more time trying to order and get through the line up than it takes to eat your cold half cooked meal..if you even get the correct order, or all of it. They have half the size of the menu of any other fast food place, and are always out of half of those items that they do have available. I’ve been here a couple times now, hoping for a better experience each time, but I think it just gets worse. The first evening we were here we were told that they were out of root beer, chicken strips and chocolate milk. Our next visit half our order was missing, onion rings were a pile of mush and our burgers were served on english muffins as they were out of buns, without advising or confirming that it was ok that this is how they’d be served. The staff have been very poorly trained, if at all, and I’m not sure if management even exists at this location. I understand this is your first week of being open but holy get your s**t together people it’s not rocket science, it’s fast food!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! MAKE THE DRIVE TO...
Read moreThe A&W in Norwood is certainly a treat for us in the surrounding community as there are limited fast food options. I enjoy A&W over other fast food with similar options as they pay attention to where and how the food is produced, such as grassfed beef, organic and fairtrade coffee, free-range eggs, etc. The food simply tastes better too.
Given its location on busy Highway 7, the Norwood location often gets swamped, especially on the weekend, so expect a wait. Nonetheless, even when busy, I find service is quite efficient. The food I have ordered has always been hot and fresh.
I find the employees are generally very friendly. Like other places, the younger staff tend to be a little quieter, which could be mistaken for rudeness, but thinking back to my younger years, it's more likely shyness mixed with a little bit of being overwhelmed when busy. I don't take offense.
The parking lot has ample room for parking and there are spots on the east side of the building that can accomodate RVs, trailers, etc. I also noticed there is parking behind the building too.
Finally, I recommend visiting the A&W website for coupons. There are some pretty good...
