My wife ordered a custom made cake for our daughter's 7th birthday. My daughter wanted a "five nights at Freddy" cake and they are not common. I was NOT on board with the idea of spending such a large amount of money on a cake. I left it completely in her hands so I was not part of the customization process. When I asked, my wife said the customer service was far above all of her expectations. The parking lot and inside were both quite busy when we went to pick up. The parking spots also seemed to be shorter then normal.

Now for the actual review of the product. The birthday cake looked amazing. It was like one of those cakes you would see on one of those 'the best cake' television shows.

We rented an escape room for the party. One of the staff saw the top of the cake through the box lid; then ALL of the staff, as well as the owner, came into the party room for the unboxing. The cake was so beautiful it felt like I was destroying a work of art when I cut into it. I will include pictures so you can see what I am talking about.

Although stunning I was disappointed that it was all fondant on the cake. I have hated fondant for my entire life.

Well, until now that is....

The texture and taste was absolutely amazing. The fondant was not only ediable it was the perfect flavour to compliment the cake. Everyone must have agreed with my opinion because it was devoured quite quickly by all.

The quality and flavours were perfect and the cake was easy to cut without damaging the shape. There was also so much more cake left then I had imagined. Everything on the cake was edible except for the wooden sticks holding the top character together and the plastic support tubes in the bottom layer. We shared with everyone in the building and also took home 3/4 of the bottom layer. (We did not offer doggy bags, lol.)

It literally blew everyone away. Us, the guests, the parents of the guests, the staff/owner, and most importantly, our daughter.

I was so impressed I have already agreed that my wife could order another...

Date of visit: Saturday April 26th Grandma’s Oven Bakery – Pure Sweet Bliss in Aylmer! We love stopping by local bakeries whenever we’re on a day trip. Discovering these little gems is the perfect way to enhance your adventures. Picking up some sweet snacks to satisfy your sweet tooth. We have visited Aylmer many times, and for some reason, we had never been to Grandma’s Oven before. Well, we rectified that this time. If you’re looking for next-level homemade treats, this charming bakery in Aylmer is the spot! We indulged in their cupcakes, which were soft, fluffy, and topped with just the right amount of decadent frosting. Their stuffed cookies? Absolute perfection—gooey, rich, and packed with flavour. And let’s talk about the butter tarts… buttery, sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, just like grandma used to make! Everything here tastes like it was made with love, and the cosy atmosphere makes you feel right at home. If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favour and grab a box of goodies—you...

A few issues here; we have been faithful customers of grandmas oven since their small shop on king street, as they grow the quality of baked goods here is getting worse, first I'll list what they still do well: cream pies, cupcakes, cake pops, bread. The items that need work are any and all cookies, they all get made way too thick and custom cakes often dont come out as expected but "good enough" I dont think they deserve a 1 star reveiw based on these complaints alone. But after reading a interview the owner did with the news I can't in good concious continue to support a shop who blames the community who supported them in their tiny shop in King st. for the drop in their "VIP's" customers who come from out of town. She could have blamed Covid itself or government restrictions but instead she turned on the people who helped make her business successful. The advice I would give is if you think your city customers are so much more important and you think your community is holding you back move your bakery...

Id give this place 4.5 stars if I could. Beautiful cakes that are amazingly decorated (see instagram). Our family has been buying their cupcakes and cakes for many celebrations, just call and theyll make magic happen to fit your theme. Delicious cupcakes. Recently tried the butter tarts and theyre perfect consistency with flaky pastry. Only 4.5 stars because we've had a few minor points of criticism: 1) smash cake for baby's birthday had beautiful edible figures with huge toothpicks inside, making the cake smash tricky (had to quickly remove all decorations before baby grabbed them) 2) cream pie wasn't good - tasted more like cool whip. Gave the owner feedback but she said the topping requires stabilizer which isn't true if refrigerated (eg. Bread and butter bakery in Kingston has amazing and fresh cream pie). Id still recommend this bakery to my friends. Give it a try!
