Lots of people recommended this place so I tried it out. The people are very nice and the place is homely and comforting. Aside from that, the veil and pizza we had were one of the worst I have ever had. The feel of the place is Italian but I believe the owners are not (middle eastern maybe?) and most definitely the food is not Italian in taste. I wish them the best of luck but I won't be going back.
REPLY TO OWNER:
You can try and twist this into a racial thing but it isn't that. All I said was that the place wasn't Italian and stated that I thought the owners were Middle Eastern to further my point of it not being an Italian place. I know non Italians can own Italian restaurants but that's not the point I am making. As an Italian in a family who own authentic Italian restaurants and hotels since 1912, I know there are chefs from all around the world that can cook all kinds of different cultural foods. That is also not the point. The point was the food wasn't even close to being Italian. Just because you label it as Italian doesn't make it automatically taste Italian. I fully believe that your customers are happy. The people of South SImcoe\Muskoka love the Italian food offered in this region. They also have a different pallet than I do. I on the other hand do not like the Italian cuisine in this region but I keep on finding new places to try all the time so hopefully one day I will. I know some Italian places owned by Italians in the region that I also don't consider to be Italian places. For me it's all about the food. As I stated The place is homely and nice. I also said the people there were nice. That being said, I believe you take pride in your work and I appreciate the response. As I stated the place and people were amazing, I just couldn't stomach the food. Keep doing what you are doing if you are successful. I believe you are successful and I hope you are successful and wish you all the best! I had pizza and a veil. If you want to compare, I am a fan of Libretto's pizza in Toronto and San Francesco's in Toronto. I have upgraded my review to account for the pleasant people and atmosphere and have adjusted my comment. My apologies for being over critical but I was so upset over the taste of the food with what it had cost. Best of luck to...
Read moreThis was the most disappointing meal out. Service: there were 2 other tables. The server walked past us 5x not asking if we were ready to order. Our menus were already closed and we made eye contact with her. It’s the servers job to go to the tables to see if they are ready.
Speed and quality of food: we ordered nachos, chicken Mediterranean sandwich, a pasta dish and a small pizza. The nachos is an appetizer. That took over 45 mins to come out. We asked the server 2x for it. The first time I heard her asking the kitchen for it. The second time when we asked how much longer it was going to take, she said there’s an entire line up of take out orders. (Ummm no just cause there’s take out doesn’t mean you leave the customers at the restaurant without food for 45 min). When it finally came out, the chips were over cooked. It was stuck to the tinfoil. The rest were soggy. It was really gross.
The Persian pizza came out after that. It was overcooked. It was so unappetizing. It looked like someone kept it in the oven for too long or reheated it. It was really really gross.
After we finished the 2 plates, the pasta and sandwich arrived. The pasta was alright. It was the best out of all 4 dishes. The sauce was alright nothing special. The pasta was too soggy not al dante at all. The garlic bread that came with it had no garlic on it.
The sandwich was absolutely disgusting. It was so dry. There were 2 tiny pieces of red peppers and almost no goat cheese. It was so dry and so gross. The amount of fries we got as the side was just a handful. I didn’t even try a bite - it would’ve made me instantly dehydrated cause of how dry it was. It wasn’t my meal so thankfully I didn’t have to eat it.
Bill: if you pay with a visa they charge you 0.26 cents. When our bill was literally over $89 this restaurant couldn’t even pay the 0.26 cents.
Ambiance: it was pretty uncomfy but if the food was good it would’ve been worth it.
There was no time to let them know about the food and for them to remake it because we already sat there for so long and we actually had to get home so I could work my night...
Read moreI don't know how this place has a rating over 2. The in-house slices are absolutely wretched. They actually take a spray bottle of water and squirt it all over the slice before they reheat it, to moisten it I guess? They squirt down your slice right in front of you, like it is a completely normal practice. How many "gourmet" restaurants squirt water all over the food in front of you? If the slice is dry, don't be cheap, just put a sprinkle of fresh cheese on top. If it is too dry... throw it out. I was charged $8 for what you see in that picture. My goodness. If the owner comments on this saying that they don't spray the slices down, I will tell you that I've witnessed him do it himself.
To make things worse, Circle K started serving Pizza slices. They weren't great, but they were better than Sicilian and at an affordable price. Sicilian complained to the property management company about the competition and Circle K was forced to pull their pizza at that location.
Seriously, how bad is your pizza that you can't compete with gas station pizza. Now not only is he making a bad product at his own restaurant but is forcing other places to stop serving products. Just get better, try harder, don't cry foul because people are voting with their wallet.
Sicilian has like 25 different "Poutines" on the menu, none of them have cheese curd. If you are going to use shredded cheese, call it "cheese fries" or something.
