Out for a drive the other day, the wife and I stumbled upon this little hidden gem of a restaurant called Jim's Lunch in the quaint little town of Princeton. We couldn't resist the allure of a late breakfast, so we decided to pop in. Folks, it doesn't get much cuter than Jim's Lunch. With a seating capacity of about a school bus, we were greeted by the friendliest staff and quickly nestled in among 6 or 7 other patrons who were, without a doubt, locals.
These locals, we later discovered, were connoisseurs of Jim's menu, especially Sally's homemade pies. They insisted we try the rhubarb cream pie and the overly delicious lemon meringue before leaving. Let me tell you, meeting Sally was an experience in itself. This wonderful lady seemed to have eight arms, juggling the grill, toaster, till, and a brief conversation with me—all in a whimsical blur of constant motion, as gracefully as an Olympic figure skater!
Charming and seemingly oblivious to the local fame of her pie masterpieces, Sally plated up our bacon and eggs, home fries, and rye toast before we even got halfway through our cups of delicious coffee. We ended up leaving with two pieces of pie in hand and well-wishes from the entire restaurant. Jim's is an experience that felt like coming home after being gone for...
Read moreJim's Lunch was a fabulous place to visit with my parents and enjoy excellent food. We live in Hamilton and my parents London so it's a great mid-way point for us. We all had the special of the day - Bacon Cheeseburgers with soup or fries. The chicken noodle soup was excellent, the fries delicious and the burgers so tasty. The portions were generous! My mom and I took some home and we all shared in outstanding homemade pie. We tried the mincemeat, lemon and blueberry pies. Definitely go hungry or take a piece of pie home because you don't want to miss it! Highly recommended, excellent and friendly staff (our coffee cups were always full), and very affordable for the amount of food. Definitely stop in at Jim's Lunch whether you're driving by on a trip or make a special trip!...
Read moreOk it's small 7 tables. The food is homemade and tasty like it was back in the 1960's. It's a local joint that has been getting a lot of attention lately. I had the hot turkey and it was just perfect. Open faced the way I like it but I did get offered the option to have it like a sandwich. Jim is exactly what you need to remind you of how it was how it could be again and how good food always finds a crowd. This place is going to have to hire more people.
So if you want to leave the city and come for a nice drive just west of Paris in Princeton Ontario. See how we do it in a great part of Ontario check out Jim's and come for a slice of Damn good Pie. Ps the food is...
