Undoubtedly one of the best food establishments in the province.
We live in Hamilton, ON and drove 45 mins to Plattsville to pick up a Marketplace item. While in Plattsville, we asked the seller for the name of a good restaurant and they suggested the Trails Edge Tavern.
When we were seated at the Trails Edge Tavern, I asked the waitress (who was excellent! ), what the best item on the menu was and she said, "Everything! Yes, seriously everything on the menu is excellent!" She went on the explain the home made burgers, she praised the pasta and so many areas of the menu.
We looked at the menu again and I chose the 'MAPLE B'EH'CON BURGER' with Sweet Fries.
The burger I recieved was FANTASTIC! It was large, delicious, juicy, extremely flavourful and HOT off grill. I don't recall getting a burger anywhere that came so hot off the grill that the temperature was so hot that I had to have a gulp of cold beer for every bite that I took. The meat patty was so large that the heat remained hot through most of the time I was eating it. 100% Outstanding!
Although, this place isn't next door to our home, we're coming back!!!
Thank you for the...
Read moreThe service is okay, not outstanding. It's a seat yourself-type joint. We grabbed our own highchair for our toddler. And it seemed like the wait-staff was understaffed. However we visited at the dinner hour on a Thursday, so maybe they were just getting slammed. When we visited, the back hallway adjoining the washrooms smelled of urine. I'm not sure if this is a recurring theme or a one off. The staff have cigarette breaks directly next to the rear door, (which as I understand it, is non-compliant with smoking regulations surrounding distance from entrances) albeit behind a privacy fence. So if someone is smoking while you're using the doorway, you're likely getting a lung full. In terms of food, I enjoyed my meal, the Ultimate Burger with fries (which was a large portion). Overall, however, I have to consider the smell in the hall, the smokers behind the kitchen, and the service that left something to be desired in...
Read moreMy wife and I eat here fairly often, and we always have a great experience. Their food is delicious (I usually get the Black & Blue Burger), prices are fair, portion sizes are excellent, and service is friendly. One of the best things about Trail's Edge, however, is their ability to accommodate food allergies. My wife is celiac, and has never had an issue eating here. They have a large number of gluten free menu options, and their serving staff are knowledgeable about allergies and cross-contamination. Their gluten-free bun is delicious, and they have a number of specifically gluten-free entrées that are all delicious, as well! I would highly recommend this place to everyone -- with or...
