I recently visited Sardar Ji Restaurant for dinner, and unfortunately, my experience was not what I had hoped for. I had heard quite a bit about this place and went in with decent expectations, but overall, I left quite disappointed.
To start with the food, I ordered three items – Dal Makhani, Chap Tikka Masala, and Spring Rolls. The Dal Makhani was average at best. While it wasn’t terrible, it lacked the rich, creamy flavor and depth of spices that one usually expects from such a classic dish. It felt more like something quickly put together without much care for seasoning or consistency.
The Chap Tikka Masala was even more disappointing. The texture and taste were far from what you’d expect from a restaurant that positions itself as authentic Indian cuisine. The dish didn’t carry the right balance of spices, and it lacked freshness. Honestly, it felt bland and did not live up to the name or the price tag.
The biggest letdown, however, was the Spring Rolls. They were extremely hard, almost rock-like, making them nearly impossible to enjoy. I was genuinely surprised at how they were served in that state because it showed either the food was overcooked, stale, or simply not handled properly in the kitchen. Either way, it was a huge disappointment.
Apart from the food, I also found the cleanliness and hygiene of the place concerning. The bathroom was not clean at all, which really affects the overall dining experience. When you go out for a meal, you expect at least basic hygiene standards to be maintained, and sadly, this restaurant did not meet them.
The service was okay – the staff was polite enough, but there was no real effort to check in on the food quality or customer satisfaction. For a restaurant, especially one that serves Indian cuisine where flavors and hospitality are key, this felt like a missed opportunity.
Overall, I would say my dinner at Sardar Ji Restaurant was quite underwhelming. With so many dining options available, it’s important for restaurants to focus on both food quality and cleanliness, but unfortunately, this place fell short on both fronts. Unless they make major improvements in their cooking standards and upkeep of the premises, I don’t see myself returning or recommending this...
Read moreI have heard good things about this place. So, I decided to visit with a friend of mine for dinner. Maybe it was a bad day for the restaurant or something because the food was not upto the standards of what I had heard. They added too much salt in every single dish we ordered. The food itself wasn't bad, the recipes were good and the menu options were versatile but maybe it was our bad luck that during our visit, maybe the chef added too much salt by mistake. However, to simply make it out to be a "mistake" is a bit of a stretch, considering every dish we ordered was effected... the service wasn't bad initially, the servers tended to our needs and asked us if we needed anything while maintaining appropriate intervals allowing us to enjoy our meals and speak amongst ourselves. However, after we finished our meals and settled the bill the server started hounding us to put a google review. Asking customers for feedback is a common practice but to repeatedly ask when they're still seated, saying things like "it'll only take a minute", "you can tap your phones here and it will take you to the Google review page", "if you dont mind putting the review now" & so on and so forth. We were made to feel we couldn't leave without putting a review and the server just hovered over us while we typed the reviews. This experience was highly uncomfortable, it was very inappropriate and unethical... The ambience of the restaurant was alright. The table lamps when turned on where too bright so we kept them off and without it, it was slightly dark. Slightly dimmer table lights would be better so guests can better appreciate the platting and presentation of the meals. Also the main entrance has 2 doors. An exterior door and an interior door. The exterior door is glass which is fine. However, as soon as you enter through the exterior door, you're face to face with a wooden door. Being face to face with a solid wooden door with no view of what's on the other side of the door was initially a bit confusing as we didn't know if we had entered through the right entrance and if it was leading to the restaurant. (Keep in mind we went at night, maybe during the day this isn't an issue) Hence, it was a bit...
Read moreI had heard good things about this place, so I decided to visit with a friend for dinner. Unfortunately, perhaps it was just an off day for the restaurant, but the food did not meet the standards I was expecting. Every dish we ordered was noticeably oversalted. While the food itself wasn’t bad—the recipes were good, and the menu offered a lot of variety—it seemed that on this particular visit, the kitchen may have been heavy-handed with the seasoning. However, to call it a one-off “mistake” feels like a stretch, considering every single dish was affected.
The service started off well. The servers were attentive, checked in on us at appropriate intervals, and allowed us time to enjoy our meals and conversation. However, after we had finished eating and settled the bill, the experience became quite uncomfortable. The server repeatedly pressed us to leave a Google review while we were still seated. While asking for feedback is understandable, we felt pressured as the server hovered over us with comments like, “It’ll only take a minute,” “You can tap your phone here to go straight to the review page,” and “If you don’t mind putting the review now.” It created an awkward atmosphere, making us feel that we couldn’t leave without posting something on the spot. This approach came across as both inappropriate and unprofessional.
As for the ambience, it was just okay. The table lamps, when turned on, were too bright, so we kept them off, which left the space slightly too dark. Slightly dimmer lighting would help guests better appreciate the presentation of the dishes. Additionally, the main entrance could be more inviting. After entering through the exterior glass door, we were immediately faced with a solid wooden interior door with no visibility of what was on the other side. Arriving at night, we were momentarily unsure if we were even at the correct entrance, and it felt a bit unwelcoming. (This may not be as much of an issue during the day.)
Overall, while there were some positives, this visit was disappointing, and I hope the restaurant takes this feedback into...
