Never consistent. Often the fries are cold and overcooked and hard. Gravy is usually tasteless. When it does have a taste, it's sour. Lids do NOT fit their gravy dish so a massive burning hazard. Asked for a cup of water and it tasted like literal feces. Smelled it and it's just as bad. They ARE working on water and sewer lines so perhaps this is why, but that makes me think people will be sick from contaminated water which they use to make gravy etc. The owner is rude. The other girls are great. Too bad it went so far down hill. One day a few years ago, my son asked for an ice cream cone. It came in a dish. When i asked for it to be fixed the waitress was so sweet but the owner saw i was complaining and came and took over. She was beyond rude and even a bit hostile. She said she can stick a cone on top. I said no, he's 8 and wants it IN the cone. She walked away disgusted and slammed it into the trash and sent another girl out with it made right. I had to apologize to her because i felt like i got her in trouble. Had major issues a few years back, so bad that no one would believe me if I told it. The owner has got to go. There's a reason there's hardly any cars there ever, and several facebook pages complaining about the business. Maybe take a clue. You cant cook, have no manners, and shouldn't run a business. In all the years i have been going to Gillis' Drive In, (since 1980's) never have i had this kind of nasty food or rotten attitude and service. please note it is directed at the owner only. Also not once did i ever receive an apology for the food made badly or anything else. I won't go again. I gave it my last shot this year and regretted it immediately. I don’t complain anywhere else. There's no need because it's always a one off and the service is always so lovely, including owners. They will get my hard earned money...
Read moreHonestly went to this place my whole life loved it. Literally one of my best childhood memories come out of this place but I went there with my daughter and boyfriend last week food was great tell I had noticed the deep fried dill pickles weren't done so returned them the lady at the counter agreed with me offered me new ones I said no thank you I would just like my money back, then the so called "manager" comes in and says they are cooked and I'm wrong but She'll still give me my money back extremely rudely. She's seen they are not done or wouldn't just give me my money back was so unbearable and rude I asked to speak to some one above her or for a number then goes on to tell me that there is no one else to tell that she is the highest authority of the restaurant, so I asked if she was the owner she stated no I was like give me there number and she tells me no won't give it to me so we leave before finishing are meal because of her which was like $50 down the drain. Every employee looked terrified of her and I seriously hope the real owners see this and do something because trust me if it was my restaurant she wouldn't be my manager. No wonder no one...
Read moreThe only reason this place is still in buisiness is because of nostalgia, but it calling it a shell of its former self is would be too much praise.
It cost 41 dollars before tip for my wife and I to eat here, each got chicken burger and fries and drink.
Buns were dry and burger was small. Asked for chicken gravy as I can't eat beef, came back with dark gravy, when my wife asked them about they said they used a beef stock. When we tried to get the gravy replaced,we were told we never asked for chicken gravy.... then asked if we wanted onion rings instead....
Don't ruin your childhood memories by coming to...
